23.01.2022 Please read, but before making the simple comment, just do it its only a 5 minute process think of the mechanics of this and peoples principles. Yes, i have filled mine in but i have had one years ago and let it lapse but i can understand why Queensland volunteers are not too happy, firstly when you apply you must go through the character and Police criminal history checks! when you put in a Blue card application they use the same checks!! So what happens when interstate or ...overseas volunteers come to help us, do the y have to apply first, or is there an exemption, if so can someone explain to me why. of course i wouldn't want that to happen however, the Qld government cant just all of sudden move the goal post and say that Queensland volunteers need checking, but anyone else, no its ok its only our volunteers that we need to check!! Can anyone see whats happening here, it wont be long and all our interstate colleagues will go through the same thing. And remember this, the check is not just for child related offences, its for all offences that have a criminal history, even if that was 20 years ago, now if you have had any convicted offences against children or violence related offences then you dont deserve to be in the service, but these would have been picked up in a criminal history check!, please feel free to comment if any of this post is incorrect as i am not a lawyer :) and lets not make it an argument, clean debate please or i will ban those making stupid remarks. https://www.abc.net.au//firefighters-queensland-v/11917716
