22.01.2022 Hi everyone, thanks for all comments and tips regarding making and selling fabric face masks in these difficult times. Please let me clarify: these masks are NOT rated to stop any infections. I sell them as supplementary and a "better than nothing" cute item to instill calm in the community. I have updated the design to make a pocket in between the two layers of fabric to allow for an inserted piece of non woven cloth if you want to "up" the protection. Thats the best I can ...do for now as I have no money to invest in other materials that may be better. The masks have been purchased mainly by people who have other issues such as bronchitis, or a common cold and cough a lot and do not have Corona Virus. They are simply stared at angrily in public at present, simply for coughing. My customers dont want that attention so hence the masks. Everyone is afraid, understandably, but it makes for even more difficult times here in Australia where we dont have the face mask tradition well developed as they do in parts of Asia. There it is considered very polite and appropriate to wear a mask when you are not feeling well. Its about the protection of others. We can always debate the effectiveness of the mask, the type, the ways its intended and the way its worn by the user etc etc and if it actually stops any spread of disease. I will be making the best masks I can right now and advise people to seek better equipment if they can and not rely on these to do anything but send a message to people around them; I care about my community. 07.01.2022 I encourage everyone to isolate themselves as much as possible. Give it a good think before you head out. I know, its hard! We are so used to go about our business exactly as we wish. Well, things have changed and the rules are now different. STAY HOME! And I encourage you everyone to LOVE IT. There are heaps of wonderful things to do at home. Perhaps finally get to sorting that cupboard out. Cleaning those windows? I am digging a lot in the garden when I dont do my regular... work of making wheatbags and face masks. I have to say the cat loves the increased playtime and the house is definitely cleaner now LOL. I may even get to the large wardrobes and deal with all those clothes I have saved just in case I cant live my life without them? I am definitely baking more bread and will attempt the holy grail of sourdough. Any good starter recipes, anyone? Happy Social Isolation everyone! By the way, you can still go for walks and be OUTSIDE your house, just not in groups. And dont touch anything except your dog, if you have one with you! And also by the way, you can still shop our wheatbags online OR come to the studio and buy. The easy to use masks come with instructions on how and when to use them. They dont have any rating other than 10 out of 10 P, where P stands for PRETTY! The masks are really a "barrier holder" for your nose and mouth.
