15.01.2022 The best new product from land or sea in this year's delicious. Australia produce awards is The Cape Moreton Scarlet Prawn. Yes, a wild Australian prawn has beaten all comers to be the tastiest, most innovative new food product in Australia's most prestigious produce awards. Catching the scarlet prawn means deep water, and deep water means danger and risk. But Nick Schultz from Urangan Fisheries figured out a way to find, safely catch and deliver this incredible prawn to market. Chefs are beating a path to the fisher's door as the industry continues to innovate and sustainably provide new and exciting produce for Australian tables.

We hope it's a safe journey for all. The fishery is only active 50 nights of the year to ensure sustainable stocks. In fact, the Spencer Gulf fishery was the first king prawn fishery in the southern hemisphere to be awarded the Marine Stewardship Council in Australia & NZ blue tick. 02.01.2022 Today is World Fisheries Day, 21 November, when we celebrate the hardworking fishers from around the world and especially our wild prawn fishers. So many world firsts to celebrate, like Spencer Gulf King Prawns, in SA, the first King Prawn fishery in the Southern Hemisphere to be certified sustainable by Marine Stewardship Council in Australia & NZ. Banana Prawns and Tigers from the Northern Prawn Fishery, the first tropical prawn fishery in the world to be certified sustainable by the MSC. We salute the skippers, the deckies, the engineers and the families they leave behind just so we can enjoy the crunchy goodness of a wild prawn, not just on Christmas day, but every day.
