03.01.2022 Previous to this economic situation, the Australian arts sector was worth [more than] $100 billion to our economy, employing 600,000 people. The arts made up 6.4 per cent of our gross domestic product, just less than mining at 8.4 per cent and more than triple sport, which is two per cent, explains AWO Double Bassist Kirsty McCahon.

02.01.2022 Thank you ABC Classic for sharing this very poignant new song titled "Listen" by Siobhan Stagg and Dermot Tutty. [Artists] have been stamped with a non-essential worker tagline, which obviously brings forward lots of tricky existential questions for thousands of people. Where does that leave us if what we do isn’t something that people need in their everyday life? Siobhan Stagg told ABC Classic Breakfast. Dermot Tutty penned both the lyrics and the music for this new work ...honing in on the special silence that can only be found in the moments after the musicians finish, but before the applause erupts inside a crowded auditorium. Tutty and Stagg feel this special moment is lost when listening to music at home or from a device. Listen via link below.
