22.01.2022 Rendez-vous with Australis Art Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 3 pm

22.01.2022 Is there a relevance to art within a period of pandemic? When everything becomes less certain, worrysome, art seeks to anchor us to reality bringing comfort and relief. Throughout history artists have created art based more on hope and healing than actually depicting the actual suffering and have recalled us to the quintessential love and caring. In a difficult period, human solidarity is what helps us to get through. Artists remind us to go within ourselves to find the right resources necessary for survival, serenity, wisdom and the resolve to survive. Artists carry on with transcending regardless of difficulties and there is a lesson for all of us to focus on beauty, love and kindness always <3

21.01.2022 Australis Art gallery will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm.

21.01.2022 Art is a kind of innate drive that seizes a human being and makes him its instrument. The artist is not a person endowed with free will who seeks his own ends, but one who allows art to realize its purpose through him. As a human being he may have moods and a will and personal aims, but as an artist he is "man" in a higher sense he is "collective man" one who carries and shapes the unconscious, psychic forms of mankind. C.G. Jung

19.01.2022 This precious Jadeite pendant is originating from Myanmar. For 2000 years Jade has been part of a religious cult in China and mystic symbols have continued to be carved on it. Jade is a protective stone, keeps the wearer from harm, brings harmony, attracts good luck and friendship. It stabilises the personality and promotes self-sufficiency. It soothes the mind and release negative thoughts.

19.01.2022 Aboriginal paintings of Mimi spirits can be found dating back as far as 50,000 years ago in Noorlangie Rock, Arnhem Land and Kakadu. This interpretation is created by Darryl Ely, metal artist, 50 x 50 cms plate metal and stainless steel on metal stand 1.5 m high. Mimis are the tiny, match-thin spirits which Aborigines believe have lived and still do today in the escarpments since the beginning of time. In the Dreamtime they taught many skills, including hunting, weaving, fishing, painting on rock and on bark, ceremonial songs and dances to old medicine men (marrkidjbu), who in turn passed their knowledge on to the elders of the tribe so that they could teach other chosen men.

15.01.2022 Heralding the Winter Season - in the Northern Emisphere at least, this vitreous enamel is part of a set entitled "The 4 Seasons". (Fine Silver, Vitreous Enamel, Copper, Acrylic on acid-free board) Vitreous enamel, also called porcelain enamel, is a material made by fusing powdered glass to a substrate by firing, usually between 750 and 850 C (1,380 and 1,560 F). The powder melts, flows, and then hardens to a smooth, durable vitreous coating. Plate depicts winter symbols and Celtic rune.

11.01.2022 " The Visitor " Metal plate and stainless steel sculpture by Darryl Ely, metal artist. The sculpture represent a Mimi. $690 Aboriginal rock painting of Mimi spirits can be found dating back as far as 50,000 years ago in the Nourlangie Rock in Arnhem Land or Kakadu in the Northern Territory of Australia. Mimis are fairy-like beings of Arnhem Land in the folklore of the Indigenous Australians of northern Australia. They are described as having extremely thin and elongated bodie...s, so thin as to be in danger in high winds. To avoid this, they usually spend most of their time living in rock crevices. They are said to have taught the Aborigines of Australia how to hunt and prepare meat. The Mimi are tall, thin beings that live in the rocky ridges of northern Australia as spirits. Before the coming of Aboriginal people they had human forms. When Aboriginal people first came to northern Australia, the Mimi taught them how to hunt and cook kangaroos and other animals. They bought to Man the knowledge of painting. They also did the first rock paintings through which taught Aboriginal people their painting skills. The Mimis also taught them to control fire. Fire is a purely physical need for warmth, a means of physical comfort, cooking and survival.
