18.01.2022 It is timely that on St Patrick's Day we survey the Blackman River Bridge which afforded 2 convict Irishmen a point to meet. They belonged to the group known as the young Irelanders who roamed Tasmania. They arranged to have their food dropped off under the bridge by a local innkeeper. Irish sympathisers gave them food and shelter and hid them from the authorities.
