23.01.2022 Alicia Ryan from HappyFit - my total yogi flame. Built AYTT with me up until she stepped aside into the role of mama to her second bundle of joy. Alicia is still deeply entwined within the training and I am grateful because she brings the deepest awareness and meaning to it all. Alicia is and has always, for as long as I've known her, been one of the most dedicated practitioners - on and off the mat. Plus, her practice is insanely strong and graceful. Her knowledge of the bo...dy and the way she approaches the individuality of each and every body, is second to none. Having her deliver her unique way of teaching, adjusting, intricate verbal cueing and anatomy knowledge makes me so appreciate that she is on our TTC faculty. As a teacher Alicia is fanatical about assisting her students to grasp the alignment of each and every shape they put themselves in. She aims to help build a deep body awareness and connection, as it is through this inner knowledge that energy is shifted and we come alive. She sees each person as a whole, including body, mind, emotions, habits and patterns of living, believing if she can teach to each of these parts then the true aim of yoga will be witnessed. Alicia has studied with many teachers in the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga and is currently practicing under the guidance of Dena Kingsberg. It is through the practice and connection with her teacher that Alicia is constantly inspired and dedicated to sharing all that Yoga can bring to relieve suffering and enhance life. Our next free info session to find out the details of our fully accredited 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in August is coming up soon (March is sold out). Check it out on our event page.
23.01.2022 Not the end, just the beginning. What an incredible group of trainees to graduate today at Wave Yoga + Living. I'm so stoked for these wonderful relationships that are blossoming and am so excited to witness the unfolding that takes place from here on in ... Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the practice friends. To be in a room full of people like this fills our cup like nothing else. If you look closely, you will see that one of the trainees knitted Alicia and I in doll form. What a gift! Sharon - you are so incredibly creative. Even the details of the clothes were bang on! Mind is blown!
23.01.2022 It's been an incredible training this one. Graduation was originally on the 20th of June but under the circumstances, we chose to extended it. It was a steep learning curve for all of us, to move the training online (live), where we got a lot of the theoretical components complete, whilst we awaited for the moment we could get back together in the flesh. ... I'm so grateful for these 15 trainees, who took to the constant restructuring of the training with the deepest of understanding and patience and restrictions eased and rules were constantly changed. The group had to be divided into two, and two trainings were running simultaneously, first outdoors, then inside. It never ceased to amazing me how understanding and flexible everyone was. Out of 15 people, everyone was giving it their all, despite the constant state of flux we have endured since our opening ceremony which took place two days before lock down. We had no idea what was coming. Day by day, we had no idea what was coming. It would have been easy to use COVID as an excuse, but in the depth of assessment, it is plain to see that this time of transition was not used as an excuse, but an opportunity. I am simply amazed at the quality of teachers currently emerging from this training. I am in awe at how the tools of this practice have been used during this time, when very valid excuses could have arisen and gotten in the way. I got emotional yesterday as we moved through assessment. While I thought I would be simply going in to observe, I got drawn into each and every class. I got emotional as the space was held for me at a time I really needed it, and as I dropped in - at times, I forgot I was even assessing. I am so inspired. So humbled. So, SO grateful to be riding this wave with this phenomenal tribe. There is no coincidence that these 15 people signed up for this very course. Thank you so much Alicia Ryan - my wing woman and co facilitator. When I wavered and needed support, you scooped me up numerous times and saw the wider view. You are so steady and I am so grateful to have you by my side. Gopali Dasi Doyle - thank you so much for your flexibility, wisdom and teachings. You are the essence of grace! I'm so grateful that you are part of this training. Wave Yoga + Living - what a ride. I'm so grateful that our relationship has solidified and has been so effortless through these times of change. Its made the whole process lighter. Your transparency, openness and patience has been incredible. To all of the trainees - THANK YOU. Thank you for applying the method, for sticking around, for your understanding, patience and honesty during these times. I'm just in awe. I'm so grateful. There are simply no words that can begin to describe how inspired I am by your willingness, determination and comitment to the practice. Thank you.
21.01.2022 Hey :-) You may have noticed we have had a slight rebrand over this way. Our beautiful new logo was suggested by our wonderful artist friend Alana Nicole Nipperess at a time we were feeling like a change - and it couldn't possibly be closer to our heart. ... Mandalas for us signify feelings of unity, completeness and of coming full circle. The eight points of the flower represent the philosophical eight limbs of yoga of which we are incredibly passionate about, and the the space in the middle represent the eternal spaciousness that is forever present within and around each of us. This simplicity and minimal design symbolises the importance of remembering the power of keeping it simple. Thanks Lani - you nailed it.
20.01.2022 Congratulation beautiful Bec for recently graduating from the 200hr YTT course. It wasn't your average training! We literally had our opening ceremony, right before we went into lockdown. From there, we had the restructure the entire training to go online before being able to finally meet face to face in two seperate groups to meet the guidelines of people allowed to gather outside. The group was divided into two and two trainings were run side by side, outside in winter. W...e were super grateful to be able to come back inside and eventually, all of us were able to come back together for the closing ceremony. After a YTT everyone always becomes close. Strong bonds are formed and lasting relationships are created in every single training I have ever run. This one though was slightly different under the circumstances and we were so inspired by the fact that everybody finished. No one dropped out. Good on you Bec and everyone else in our 2020 training. It was certainly one to remember! For anyone wanting to join our next intake in June, we are currently taking bookings and are over half way to full. Join us at Wave Yoga + Living in Kingscliff for a journey deep into the heart of yoga and deep into the most loving, understanding and intimate relationship with yourself.
18.01.2022 Only two more sleeps until the online component of our March YTT commences at Wave Yoga + Living. Diving in deeply to our patterns and bringing our attention to what is holding us back is where we start. Because, to be of service in a way that is productive, peaceful and full of impact, starts with the way that WE react to the world around us. Feeling pumped is an understatement!

14.01.2022 A new year gives us wonderful opportunity to lean into growth. Our yoga teacher training is run by teachers who are deeply passionate about the path of yoga, and have a deep connection to the lineage passed from teacher to student, teacher to student. With the foundation of lineage, we as students gain insight not only from our own teachers, but from all of the teachers that came before. This is a powerful training that will encourage you to grow exponentially: you will dev...elop a personal practice and gain the ability to inspire others to do the same. You will cultivate a deeper understanding of the practice, yourself, and develop an unwavering sense of peace and faith. Australia Yoga Teacher Training is fully accredited with Yoga Alliance, as are our teachers, allowing you to teach yoga anywhere in the world. Commencing June, 2021 at Wave Yoga + Living, Kingscliff Early bird spaces are open and limited! ---------- A testimonial from Louise McLaughlin "To enroll in Australia Yoga Teacher Training’s 200hr course was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Even in this hectic year of 2020, delving into the philosophy, practice, and effects of yoga was a lightening and enlightening journey even if sometimes a confronting one. Darci creates authentic connections with each student meeting every person at their true centre with an honest and completely accepting spirit. The freedom for each of us to ‘be’ was one of the most powerful gifts of the experience. With the help of both Darci, Alicia and Gopali our group was nurtured through the modules with expertise, knowledge, experience and love. I feel that I have grown from this experience, and am somehow moving now in a direction that feels more like the person I really want to be. Even though I never intended to actually teach yoga, I have found that it is really something that I do want to do, and that I believe I can do. I am so grateful to AYTT for the experience of the training, but most of all for the sense of connection gained, and the expansion of confidence and self-awareness I now have." You can now find Lou teaching at Wave Yoga + Living

09.01.2022 Isn't it interesting how we wish away the past year with high hopes for the new one. As if every single moment isn't the very beginning of the rest of our lives. Being in a breathing body is a gift. One that can only be fully appreciated when present. Years can speed on by, breaths only half taken, life choices made with mind over heart. This is not a fault. This is human-ness. We can live a life lost in the mind. Or, we can choose a life that is heart led. Where we are con...tent with things as they are. Where we trust the process even when we don't understand it. It's a practice. We need to apply the method. We have control over little, other than the way we respond and contribute. Its important to choose wisely where you put your energy. Especially now. Check out our events (on our events page) - they all guide you closer to home - to your true nature.
08.01.2022 What does 2020 hold for you? Its a big year over this way. So much growth and expansion is underway, which brings up the importance of finding plenty of stillness and scheduling in time to NOT work - which can be a challenge in itself when you love what you do as much as we do! The end of year is a good time for reflection and for planning out what the following year (or 5 years if you're anything like us), but then, laying those plans to rest and trusting the process, while ...you hit the pause button before taking baby steps in full presence and awareness toward where you want to go. Having a plan is a great idea: especially if you want to change where you are currently at. But, also not being attached to the plan is a vital ingredient! One of our loves is helping people develop their vision and actually making it happen. Its all in the fine balance of effort and surrender. It takes courage to change the pattern and decide to take hold of your own destiny - all whilst having no attachment to the outcome! Phew - what a paradox... So grateful for this practice and being surrounded by people who embody it.
04.01.2022 Yoga teacher training doesn't have to result in the outcome of being a yoga teacher, although, the option is always there is you decide to pursue it down the track. A yoga teacher training can also be about simply developing a home practice, or even refining and strengthening the one you already have. What you need behind you to complete a YTT is simply a love of yoga, and the desire to deepen your understanding and practice in regards the practice on and off the mat. ... This weekend is our info session if you want to find out more. Meet Darci, our lead facilitator and one of our recent graduates Emma, who had no idea that she would come out the other end a teacher. All questions will be answered as we get into the details of what will be deleivered during our June intake, and what commitments are necessary. Check out events for the full details.
02.01.2022 For me, one of the most valuable parts of teaching yoga comes with witnessing the positive change it brings to the lives of those who practice. To walk beside someone as they unravel and shake off accumulated baggage from life's experiences almost brings me to my knees. I absolutely live for this. It wasn't until I hit my 30s that I realised what I was put on this earth for. I had been practicing on and off for many years but I never considered teaching yoga. Even when I sig...ned up for my first yoga training for a full month in India, it was simply to immerse myself into a practice that I felt did wonders for my body and mind. It's a pivotal point for many and a courageous step to dive headfirst into any personal growth journey - yoga for me opened so many doors, and also made it less daunting to close many others. I give thanks to this practice and my wonderful teacher Mark Togni, for continuously renewing my faith, my trust in the process (even the shitty, hard ones) and enabling me to consciously and courageously follow my heart, my truth and my aspirations, no matter what. Tomorrow I am teaching a free yoga class at Wave Yoga + Living at The Commons in Casuarina, followed by an information session in regards to our March 2020, fully accredited Yoga Teacher Training. There will be time for Q&A over tea. Whether you have a desire to teach yoga, pranayama or meditation, or want to refine your current teaching skill set, or even just immerse yourself into 16 weeks of devoted practice, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. Check our event page for full details. Shanti x
