Pretty great judging by this Join the Autism Swim family and you too will learn an incredibly amount of new information and strategies. www.autismswim.com.au Image description: In the left third of the image is an underwater photo. It shows a boy standing on the bottom of a swimming pool, there are bubbles around his face. The tiles are white, and there are lines of blue tiles on the floor, and along the back wall of the swimming p...ool. The boy is wearing black shorts and a long sleeved rash shirt with black sleeves, and a white chest with a smiley face on it. The top of the water can be seen from underneath, like a ceiling. 09.01.2022 We are currently spear-heading a project with the NSW Police and Rescue team, which is centered on refining their search and rescue processes for those with autism and communication challenges (including dementia) who wander. We are looking at awareness building in the community (video and podcasts), police up-skilling, database enhancements and assistive tech devices, to name just a few. It is incredibly important work! Dementia Australia is also part of the working committe...e, and now we need an Occupational Therapist and an adult with other abilities to join. The committee members will give their time pro bono. If you’re interested, please send your CV and cover letter through to [email protected], explaining your motivation for wanting to be a part of this. . . . . #autismswim #nswpolice #wandering #wanderingprevention #absconding #allabilities #ot #occupationaltherapy #occupationaltherapists #dementia #autism #asd #autismspectrumdisorder

08.01.2022 Happy Friday... Science explains that seeing or hearing the soothing sounds of moving water triggers a response in our brains that induces a flood of Neurochemicals. These chemicals increase blood flow to the brain and heart, which induces relaxation.

06.01.2022 Not only do we love certifying our providers, we love working with them to build new projects and initiatives! This is one of our providers, Carol (Kent, UK), who had the wonderful idea of developing a questionnaire to help identify swimmer's needs as they return to the pool. Awesome job, Carol! 02.01.2022 THIS is the type of caption that we’re here for Thank you for all that you do, Autism Swim Approved Provider @swirl_global Steph: "I wrote this in response to a parent and businesswoman on another forum but felt I needed to share it here.... It's so frustrating that the world wants to impose limitations on our children once they see a diagnosis. A diagnosis should be used to help our children reach their fullest potential by putting in appropriate support, and not be used as an excuse to exclude them or limit them." We at SWiRL are parents of autistic children, we strive for inclusion and support everywhere and our passion is ensuring that support is extended to the pool so that everyone can enjoy the water and learn a life saving skill for life. . . . #autismswim #autismswimapproved #autismswimmer #autismawareness #inclusion #asd
