24.01.2022 Nissan RB30, Cylinders Bored and Deck Milled. What do normal people do on Sundays?

23.01.2022 A look at a LS1 build we just finished. Stroker 383 with roller solid cam, needed a fair bit of work to get things to fit but came up really well.

22.01.2022 Which engine for the ski boat this year- - high compression 253 c.i.or - 338c.i stroker with L34 heads, Roller rockers , 526 cam ,remote oil feed to the pump, peripheral oil supply to the main gallery, chev rods, Pontiac pistons, internal balance, 750 Holley, heat exchange. Both fully maranized. I think Ill sell the 253.

22.01.2022 Supercharged Holden.

22.01.2022 If you havnt got 45 minutes to watch this you probably shouldnt be playing with engines.

21.01.2022 ATT Ian Artlett Forget the escort, how about a 427 Cobra. Should be a good all rounder.

19.01.2022 1928 Essex 6 cyl Side Valve I have just finished assembling this old ba#@$rd. Couldn't get bearings so I had to close down the original Main shells about 0.015"... so I could linebore to a new undersize which gave me about .004-.005" to grind the crank with. Lets just say there was some unorthodox setting up in the grinder ( I would have got my ass kicked when I was a apprentice if I pulled a stunt like this.) First I had to straighten the 0.012" bend out of the crank. The conrods were poured whitemaetal back in the day so I similarly closed and honed down to an undersize to give me a few thou to grind the pins. Balanced the crank ( it was actually pretty good) The block had pocket corrosion in damn near every bore so it received a B liner in every cylinder. So I could keep the interference low I pre bored the redundant material out from the inside in the mill. (try doing this on ya Rottler). Roller lifters would you believe but the trunion was shagged , but wait, its 11/32 , so i sectioned up a couple of tufftrided valves and presto.Put the crank in - then pulled it out again as the conrods are wider than the bore so the pistons all had to go in from the bottom (you expect this sort of thing from the British not the Americans.). A new set of K-lines and seat inserts , cleaned up the best of the valves and smashed it all together. Original spec sheet said 18Hp , I recon we are up around 18.3 now. Not bad for a back yard shed. 19.01.2022 Spot facer, three flute, APMT indexable cutting tips, mainly used to run down the standard rocker posts when installing screw in rocker studs. This is normal Sunday chill out activity, isnt it?. Apprentice wouldnt get out of shot

17.01.2022 A look at an Essex Super Six Build we did recently

15.01.2022 A 253 Im building and selling. Found some high comp pistons. Not legal for a 4.2 OZ Boat but similar in many ways to the 253s we build for them. Many of the processes the same.

15.01.2022 Brazzale built Windsor

14.01.2022 Home made Con rod vice. Holds conrod securely while performing work.

14.01.2022 Machining extreme close up & slow motion! 1mm deep cut in mild steel at 90 meters per minute!

12.01.2022 Ford AU Auxiliary Shaft Bore Repair

11.01.2022 I have a new machine to play with-Repco Line Boring Machine. Couldnt help myself, had to try making billet 4 bolt main caps and line boring them into an old block. This is what happens when waiting for parts to turn up and the fridge is empty.

10.01.2022 New line borer. Billet main caps hand made.

10.01.2022 Tool for setting clearances.

10.01.2022 Chev 350 Short Build

09.01.2022 I love Holidays- I get to do fun stuff.

08.01.2022 Sometimes we work on Fords.

08.01.2022 Balanced a Ford Y block shaft this morning, went really well. Its good when the new pistons are lighter than std as this makes the counterweights heavy and its e...asy to remove weight. If the counterweights are light , Heavy Metal slugs (tungsten) have to be pressed into reamed holes, a lot of work. See more

06.01.2022 A look at a Cleveland stroker build we did for a friend .

06.01.2022 A look at some projects over the last few years.

05.01.2022 Ford 250 Pre-cross flow .

04.01.2022 Boring a 350 Chev Block. Ive used a few Boring Machines over the years, many of them sap your confidence and lead to years of depresion and dispair. This system keeps ones moral reasonably bouyant.

04.01.2022 A9L rod, note the large balance mass has been radius milled top and bottom. Removing this redundant material brings the weight down to near what a std red rod weighs, but much stronger. Beams de-flashed, new ARP bolts, shot peened, closed and honed, pin bore detail, matched lengths, checked for straightness, thrust face squared, Balaced top (reciprocating) and bottom (rotational) - quite a lot of work but worthwhile as we now have a good strong rod thats not too heavy.

03.01.2022 Half way through cam run in. Inner springs removed to bed the lifters, then repeat the whole process with the inner springs re installed. A bit of work but needed to ensure cam/lifter life.

03.01.2022 LS1 Stroker with clearance problems.

03.01.2022 Deisel Head on the flowbench. First run showed good room for improvement. After some port work we gave it a second run which confirmed the effectiveness of the operations.

02.01.2022 Nissan TD42Turbo sub assembly
