11.01.2022 We hear it often however why is bare metal the best substrate to use when it comes to paint longevity? Old paint has been vulnerable to UV exposure for years, sometimes decades leaving the chemical structure weak for new paint to adhere to for long periods of time. I'm some cases old paintwork has been scratched or chipped excessively leaving the steel exposed to oxygen and moisture causing oxidisation (rust). By removing the existing paint either by chemical removal (liqui...d paint stripper), machine removal (sanding) or sand blasting, you are starting from scratch, rebuilding the finish of your panels starting with a deoxidisation treatment to the steel and applying new modern bare metal primers which are much more technologically advanced than what they were in the past and guarantees a long lasting durable finish to your pride and joy. #paintscience #baremetal #paintstripping #restoration #autobodyone #restoreyourpassion See more
