25.01.2022 This is a very rare unicorn. I've been searching for the past 6 years and now finally found a NOS Alfa 33 Permanent 4 electromagnetic clutch engagement sensor. It's really just an inductive coil sensor, but without it, the AWD clutch on the P4 will not engage. Many P4 are not running in AWD mode because of this sensor failure. I plan to make reproductions of this, stay tuned and certainly express interest if you need this.

16.01.2022 Yes I know, more parts, boring! That said, it is this hunting and gathering of parts that I do which allows me to keep 30 year old cars on the road. This time my 164 is getting some love, clutch kit, coolant tank, wiper bows/blades, clutch master, lower ball joints, timing belt, oil filters, rocker cover gaskets, alternator regulator, distributor cap+rotor and finally some gas struts for the bonnet. Some will get fitted right away and other go into stock for that day I need them.

15.01.2022 Alfa 33 Permanent 4 owners should recognise these two centre mounts... but Alfetta owners may recognise the big one and Fiat Panda owners the other. Anyway, I have 5 of each destined for some P4s. Also a new 16V radiator with some new rubber mounts and a set of 16V exhaust gaskets to replace some sold stock. Please let me know if you need help with parts, I can probably hook you up.

14.01.2022 Finally got everything ready to install fresh powder coated struts, new Koni shocks and new H&R lowering springs in Sam’s white P4 (Lumpy)... the ride height is improved, the front is a bit higher and the rear is lower. Over time it will settle a bit lower like my car with the same setup. I’m happy now the steering is much sharper and bumps are now more absorbed.

09.01.2022 Sam’s Lumpy P4 has always had a badly offset rear axle and now it has its new springs, it’s time to correct that. Since this car has had at least 2 major rear collisions, things you don’t see are still quite messed up. One of those things is the poor old panhard. While the P4 panhard is supposed to be a bent U channel, it’s not meant to be warped... it also needed to be bent more to effectively reduce the length. After measuring the axle offset I guessed around 7mm reduction was required... now it’s in the car it could have been 8-9mm, but at least 7mm means it’s not binding on wheel arches or spring seats. Once the car has settled on the springs, I’ll assess and tweak the panhard again, hopefully fir the last time.

03.01.2022 I took the 164Q for a long country drive, I pushed it hard hanging onto several 4C’s and couple of Giulia’s ahead of me. You know you’ve been working a car hard when the brake fluid boils and brake pedal goes almost to the floor, I have to say, that’s a new experience I don’t wish to repeat. At least when I checked my spark plugs I have near perfect combustion.
