01.01.2022 A great example of functional redundancy. Last week, we replace the old PLC at a major Murray River pump Station. Whilst the old PLC was still performing to its basic historical capabilities, the installation of the new M340 rack has enables, via wireless telemetry and ClearSCADA to now allow direct and real-time connectivity to the organization's head-office and additionally registered remote users. The SCADA servers will also allow for collection, storage and display of historic and trend data to improve efficiency with pump operation, power usage etc. Site staff will now be SMS notified with alerts/errors messages in real-time which they can review off-site and also remotely troubleshoot and in many cases resolve many issues without a lengthy visit to the pump station.
