25.01.2022 Opportunity for Geelong businesses. But closing 7th April! Could you assist with the making of Personal Protective Equipment for the COVIC9 crisis? The Federal Government is seeking information on domestic production capabilities relevant to a range of medical PPE, including surgical gowns, gloves, goggles, hand sanitisers, clinical waste bags, waste bag closure devices (ties), blood and fluid spill kits, mask fit test kits and thermometers.... If you think your business could assist or modify to make these products then please register - https://www.amgc.org.au/covid-19-manufacturer-response We have seen whiskey distilleries make hand sanitiser, so may be think outside the box, and more businesses in Geelong could be part of the solution.

21.01.2022 Merry Christmas from all of us at Autumn Computer Services. Hope you all have a great holiday break. Just a reminder we wont be in full swing again until Tuesday 15th January. Yes the odd day from the odd crew. Some of us will be at AJ2019 - 25th Australian Jamboree.

20.01.2022 The telcos are trying to get in to IT support. After a couple of calls in the last month we would suggest dont! A little bit of knowledge is dangerous. Changing routers is usually a easy process if you stick to the same range. One of the calls we have had was a case of the telco technician changing the customers router. And in turn they changed the address range and then went around and changed the devices. This take way longer than setting the old range in the router.... This wasnt made easier as the old range was 0 and the new range 8. And in doing so they missed a setting which made scanning didnt work and also they changed where it was scanning to with the wrong details. Due the to 0 and 8 it took us more time than usual to fine the fault as well. So again, I little knowledge is dangerous.

16.01.2022 This is not a christmas tree and this is not something you want to see on a server. This means multiple hard drives are failing in the server. Yes we are on top of it, no it wont explode, we have been on this customer for sometime to change over there server and I think my reasons stand out why. We are confident in there (and ours) backup systems that if it does crash we can get them up and running in 15 to 30 minutes. And at most they would lost up to an hour of work.... Yes the server was due for a clean as well.

10.01.2022 Pro tip, Selecting your next software, internet supplier. Ring there support line several times at different times before you decide. Mondays are a prime time for support so try then at least once.... We have been on hold for a software vendor for 45 minutes (only 2 others in the queue so it said), before we spoke to anyone. They did have to option to leave a message and they will ring back. We have done this before and 4 days later they called. Tried their sales line and 5 minutes later we spoke to someone. Wonder where their priority are?

10.01.2022 Well why do you think they ask you to do them.

05.01.2022 Do you have regular backups of your data? Most businesses take it seriously however lots of home users dont.

05.01.2022 Please help other groups with some funding. Pick My Project is an State Government funded "tender" process that is powered by popular vote. So what does that... mean, the project with the most votes get the money. So please help other scout groups with funding their project by voting for their projects. Voting is limited to your local area. https://scoutsvictoria.com.au/activities//pick-my-project/

04.01.2022 If you ask why do the Self Employed charge so much for their services We dont get paid sick days, We dont get paid bonuses for outstanding performances nor for Christmas We dont get paid during our holidays, wait I dont remember having a holiday when I didnt work at some point, We dont get paid for the training and bookwork or admin,... We dont get paid extra for after hours and weekend (overtime) or for the just a quick question, Our Insurance is similar to others with multi employees, The skill set they have, take time to build and the time cost can be high, We seem to volunteer more, We prefer to pay for local products and services, So next time you ask, remember that the Self-employed love doing what they are doing, I could saying being their own boss but this is usually having several clients (bosses) who want it done now. But that love doesnt pay the bills. See more
