14.01.2022 Hi all, The proposed changes to Working Holiday visas have passed the Australian parliament. The income tax rate has been reduced to 15% for WHV holders. Unfortunately, the increase in the minimum age requirement (from 30 to 35) has not been enacted yet. Because the visa involves reciprocal agreements with foreign governments the age increase appears hard to implement in one swoop. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Will keep you updated.

It has been proposed that the Australian backpacker tax is now planned to be set at 19%, instead of the previous plan of 32.5%. If you take the opportunity to work remotely or on a farm, eg: fruit picking, your rights may be extended for a second year. Also it is proposed that the limiting age for Working Holiday visas be raised to 35. The proposed changes will soon be put before parliament and if passed, are planned to start in 2017.
