22.01.2022 Some good news for those who are struggling to manage all the changes to their support as a result of the Coronavirus. The NDIA have put more information on the...ir website this afternoon about support coordination. The information says: If you already have support coordination in your plan but need more hours to help you manage everything, you can pay for those hours out of your core budget (assuming you have enough money in your core budget of course). If you don't already have support coordination in your plan, you can now get support coordination (without requesting a review). You can pay for it out of your core budget (assuming you have enough money in your core budget of course). This will be allowed for at least the next six months. If you are worried about running out of funds you should contact the NDIA and request a review (make sure you ask to speak to the special team who are dealing with all the Coronavirus issues). This is good news for all those who need some more help to reorganise their supports as a result of the Coronavirus. Unfortunately the good news is buried on the provider side of the NDIS website. We have found it for you - just follow the link below. You can find it here - https://www.ndis.gov.au//providers-co/support-coordination (Image description: Seven little white animated people hold seven colourful letters. The word spells "support")

19.01.2022 This will be game changing for so many families, we will continue to watch this with interest. Thanks to AFDO for starting this conversation. "Australia's Migration Act needs to be amended so it no longer discriminates on the grounds of disability. We need a fairer system." AFDO CEO, Ross Joyce... The UN Committee overseeing Australia's #CRPD Review has identified #migration health rules as a matter of concern. When Australia appears before the Committee later this month it will be asked to account for the measures. https://theconversation.com/many-sick-and-disabled-people-a #disability #HumanRights #discrimination #Migration #AusCRPDReview

10.01.2022 Big News this Monday Morning!

08.01.2022 What are your thoughts on the new report of rights of Australian’s with Disability, prepared following UN meeting in Geneva? The excerpt from the report cites people with disabilities being forced to live in institutions due to lack of adequate accessible and affordable housing. "Concluding the review of Australia, Robert Martin, Committee Co-Rapporteur, drew attention to the practices and measures which were not in line with the rights of persons with disabilities, includin...g, the ongoing exclusion of persons with disabilities from court procedures and their indefinite detention, the great number of persons with disabilities who were forced to live in institutions due to the lack of accessible and affordable housing, and the lack of a national employment plan for persons with disabilities." Is this consistent with your experience? We are supporting god many participants to leave these institutions through use of their NDIS supports.

02.01.2022 Sharing this update from EAC- Breaking News our of NDIS this evening. You will remember back in June Disability Ministers from all around the country finally agreed which health supports could be included in an NDIS plan. These changes are due to be introduced on October 1.... Today the NDIA released more information about what is included and how the changes will work. People will be able to purchase some health related supports and equipment if: the person is eligible for the NDIS and has an NDIS plan and the need for the supports "relates to their functional impairment, is ongoing and is best provided by the NDIS". (Yep we know - that is a mouthful) The NDIS website has information broken down for: participants providers the health sector You can find the information here - https://www.ndis.gov.au//disability-related-health-supports There is an easy read (with no pictures?) here - https://www.ndis.gov.au//disability-related-health-support These changes have meant the price guide has also been updated. You can find the new guide here - https://www.ndis.gov.au/provid/price-guides-and-information We are still working our way through the material - and will bring you more shortly. In the meantime if you spot anything drop us a line and let us know. We know people have been waiting for these changes for a LONG time so it is great to see we are one step closer ... #NDISMakeItWork (Image description: A red rectangle with the words "Breaking News" in white capital letters)
