24.01.2022 We had to close last year because of #drought and #bushfires but since the first of June we have been inundated with requests for bookings from people who just need to get right away from their city lives after #lockdown. We are here for you! Avalon is green again and its healing energy has returned. We are always amazed with the transformation of the faces of our guests in the few days they are here. Avalon is an #offgrid extraordinary place of deep healing. You can c...uddle a cow, pat an alpaca, experience the incredible healing power of a mob of nosy horses, spot a platypus, paddle slowly downriver and see the kingfisher flash past. You can collect fresh eggs from under a warm chook and play with the puppies. You can wander rolling pastures and steep forested hills. You can boulder hop and look for yabbies in the rainforest and creek. Or you can just curl up on the world's comfiest sofa with a book, a loved one, or yourself and rest. 21.01.2022 I grew up with The Wind in the Willows and 'messing about in boats'. Sitting quietly in or on or near the river is always a delight. The kingfishers are really active right now - that stunning streak of opulent purple as he flies by, the excitement of the plop as the platypus dives down in search of food and we wait for him to come up again . . . always motion, always quiet activity by its inhabitants and the ever present fear of the Sea Eagle on the hunt. It's all here, and the other day I spotted a pair of herons, I've never seen two together before. Always something new to discover . . .

13.01.2022 The greatest gift of what we do is seeing the faces of our guests relax after just one night in our beautiful accommodation, warmed by the wood fire, sleeping with only the starlight peeping through the curtains. Everyone talks about the peace, the silence, the serenity. And even the nervous nellies are amazed how quiet, friendly and cuddly the cows, horses, alpacas are. They soothe stressed souls. But we all stayed toasty with the woodfires roaring, eating up the pink hearted gum the boys cut and split at the weekend. 12.01.2022 The Easter holidays are over and everyone is back at school - I know a few kids (& adults!!) who will be doing 'show and tell' with fantastic photos and memories of feeding alpacas, learning to kayak, fishing for bass, collecting eggs for breakfast, pony rides, campfires and more! We show you the rainforest (like a natural cool cathedral in the summer sun), Platypus Rock where you can see the platypus if you are quiet and patient, and introduce you to our mob of ridiculously friendly horses and Angel the cuddle cow. we show you the best walks so you really feel you can explore at leisure. 05.01.2022 Someone upriver has had lots of rain which means that the river is a bit muddy. Not nice for swimming, but fantastic for spotting the platypus, which is always exciting and joyous - have you seen a #platypus in the wild?

02.01.2022 We've had a few 'cuddle cows' over the years. We may have even started the trend. Getting up close and personal, nuzzled and cuddled up to warm animals with big hearts heals humans. Goddess knows we all need that this year!

01.01.2022 Tinkerbell did lovely #ponyrides for #farmstay kids yesterday but today she is very lame and sore - maybe it was her last time, she has taught so many kids to ride in her time. For all her faults she has made lots of children very very happy, and has been by my side for 18 years so far. She is resting on her laurels and bute today, poor love.
