24.01.2022 Great to see our sails being enjoyed in NZ

21.01.2022 Perth’s retro Moth fleet hit the water last weekend, here’s the main we made for Chis Musto’s boat, complete with KA’s and tie in battens

20.01.2022 Due to snap lockdown in WA we are on reduced hours. Please call first for pick up or drop off of sails .

19.01.2022 The new Moth DS main rigged and ready to test against the Moth RWM rig next weather window.

18.01.2022 Willy's new double tack DS Moth main configured to fit his mast and Exocet.

17.01.2022 Testing is finished for the RWM Moth rig and the results are in. The rig sails very well, it's light air performance, particularly getting foiling is excellent. This one is full size area, in 15kts+ you can flatten right off but then lack of shape causes lack of height. Made a smaller sail so no need to flatten off so much and good pace and height came back (the main reason a DS works, it's a smaller sail with more form than a larger ragged out one) but went no better than a ...good luff pocket sail. So in sailing terms it is very good, rigging is a joy, where it all falls down is foil tacking. A luff pocket rigs luff does not rotate until you pressure it on the new tack, it's quite firm and resists backing, we use the windage pressure on the leeward luff to be able to balance against while crossing to the new wing. The RWM rotates too early and the "softer"nature of the boltrope type luff goes over too easily too. Because of this there is nothing to lean on during the tack the boat just falls over, you are forced to delay moving over and then you are just too late or rushed to make a good foiling tack. Gybing was ok but on the odd occasion the boat would nosedive when it usually wouldn't so I would say that there are times we are using that luff resistance gybing too. So there you go, this rig is getting a new home now on a Scow Moth (John Ilett's to be precise) where it will be perfect, a very good rig but not for foiling maneuvers. See more

16.01.2022 Congratulations to Will Boulden on winning the 2020 WA Moth State Championship.

15.01.2022 Mounts Bay Sailing Club - you rock! Congratulations!

13.01.2022 Awesome rotation on brand new 7.0 Race/Foil windsurf sail. So easy to rig, and the 5 cambers just pop over.

12.01.2022 2020 Landyacht sail design look schmick #sandgropers #landyachts #saltlakeWA

12.01.2022 Just for comparison here is the Moth main rigged on the RWM. Interesting to see the difference in depth requirements between an MG and Moth, don't forget the MG has a headsail in the rig makeup too. You can see in the shot from the head that we have trimmed the upper width of the RWM down, this is not to increase mast bend (hardly affected the bend) but to decrease the depth the mast adds to the sail so the head can feather with minimal drag.

11.01.2022 Possibly the World's cleanest DS Moth Main on it's way to its first race win. Willy on the Swan enjoying the restart of racing in WA with an early season seabreeze.

08.01.2022 Something I have been trying to get started on designing and making, some Windfoil race sails. This is the first rigging of the 8.4m sail, this a is a 5 camber sail so I can hear "oh no, needs to be light and I hate cams!". But have no fear, rotates like a top with our cam system (check short vid) and being made of proper race cloth and with narrow luff pocket (that allows for accurate shaping and full camber rotation) the sail will be easy to throw around (just like our slalom sails of 25yrs ago used to be!) It's all forward from here. Cheers, Bugs

08.01.2022 Finally snuck out for a sail, It's been 25-40 knots or no wind here in Perth (normal winter weather) so hard to get a testing slot. Yesterday end of front stuff, gusty 10-15 knots, drizzle, no one around, polar opposite to the Worlds last December. Numbers for the day, upwind in old man hiking/highish groove 17-18.5 knots, downwind never hooked into any good gusts but top for the day 24 knots. Rig is nice to sail with and a dream to rig up but racing is where it counts, hopefully next race day isn't called off again and we can get some correct feedback, but at the moment it looks promising.

08.01.2022 Checking camber rotation on 8.4 Windfoil race sail.

04.01.2022 First test sail with the new main and Genoa from Avalon Sails in Mandurah. Hitting 6 knots of boat speed in 8 knots of true wind. Thanks Avalon!
