18.01.2022 One of the tough things for us about what's happening with the events scene is seeing all the musos, foodies, and contractors we work with are doing it incredibly tough at the moment, like many others. So we want to share what they are up to in this current climate where they can't operate as normal. Pete has played at our events regularly and provided much comfort to the crew at the last Hellfire during some wild weather (I know wild weather at Hellfire, crazy right ?) Help... these cats weather this storm if you can. Hit up Petes Page in the link below so you can watch Pete and Simons live stream gig on the 4th of April. Pete is one of Australias finest blues men so well worth checking out. Cheers Duncan, Sarah and the Storm Bay Promotions Team

17.01.2022 Scintilla is coming.....

15.01.2022 Covid-19 release from the event crew. Currently, there are more important things than mountain bike races and music festivals, and the world seems a bit crazy and uncertain right now. Given the unprecedented circumstances going on we thought we would touch base. Primarily we are thinking of all of the people who are doing it tough. As an event company our thoughts are also with others who have had to make the tough decision to shut down their businesses for the indefinite fu...Continue reading

14.01.2022 Hi there, a few lumberjack FAQS. Q. Are you accepting entries from interstate? A. Not currently, we feel that there is simply too much border closure uncertainty and will reevaluate and make a decision in January. We would love to welcome back the people that come to Tassie for our events and meet new visitors, but at this stage it's locals only until we can be sure it's viable for our interstate guests and for us.... Q. Can I use different bikes for different stages? A. Yep, you can have a maximum of 2 bikes, but you have to be responsible for changing your plates, we supply reusable cable ties so it's no drama to swap 'em over. Q. I'm new to riding/racing is it doable? A. Totally you need to have some bike time under your belt, but we have reduced the liason/cruise stages so it's pretty accessible to someone who rides a few times a week. The more significant technical features all have a B line so you don't have to hit up the more gnarly stuff. Q. Do I have to pay a MTBA day licence? A.Nope we purchase a mass participation licence and cover that cost for you. There are no additional costs when you enter. Q.Are entries capped ? A.Yes after discussions with our Course Director and looking at current social distancing legislation we have a plan to manage starts and other onsite infrastructure and services. These procedures mean that we have capped entries at 200. Q. If there is an issue with COVID-19 causing the event to be cancelled what happens to my entry? A. We quarantine your entry fee until we are sure the event can go ahead. If the event is cancelled due to changes caused by COVID-19 we provide a full refund or race credit if you choose. Side note on COVID-19 related matters - We are aware that everyone is being impacted differently by the current situation and if anyone is struggling financially please get in touch if you would still like to enter, we can organise a tailored payment plan. We don't want anyone to miss out because things are harder right now. If this is helpful to you please contact us sooner rather than later so we can hold a place for you. Q. Is there an E bike category? A. Not this year as we we have imitations on numbers due social distancing requirement we won't be adding an u new categories For more info go to www.lumberjackmtb.com Don't miss out on this outstanding weekend of good times! We look forward to welcoming you to K -town

10.01.2022 We asked Edwina Hughes and Alex Hunt about their day out and win at the Kellevie MTB Park 6 hour and here is what Alex Hunt had to say. I always love the atmosphere at Kellevie, such an enjoyable event to be a part of. I think I’ve raced a Kellevie enduro in its various guises nearly every year since I started racing, well over ten years ago. I’ve had some great moments, and some pretty painful ones over the years, but to stop coming back would feel all sorts of wrong! It’s ...always been such a great track to ride, somehow managing to cater to so many people, from first timers and kids to people that want a hard day of racing! The race itself manages to get the perfect balance of offering a relaxed and welcoming attitude to anyone giving it a go, yet still actually being a race, which brings a sense of purpose missing from pretty much any mass participation ride/fondos etc. It was so good to see so many kids out on course having a rad time, teams racing is the perfect environment to grow up with and events like this really do keep people in the sport, and more broadly, and perhaps importantly, outside, riding bikes, having fun with mates, which is pretty much what it’s all about isn’t it? 03.01.2022 The 6 hour is an inclusive event where we want everyone, fast to last to have a blast, but we do think the solo winners deserve special mention. So we asked Edwina Hughes and Alex Hunt about their day out and win at the Kellevie MTB Park 6 hour and here is what Edwina Hughes had to say. Racing the six hour at Kellevie is one of the highlights on my racing calendar. It’s undoubtedly one of the best venues for racing in Australia, and has the most supportive group of racers ...and spectators that I’ve ever come across. It was so cool to see so many riders of all abilities out there having a go. I had a good day on the bike; I found the course to be challenging but fun, and really enjoyed the new loop. My race nearly come unstuck when three spokes in my rear wheel randomly busted not quite half way though the race. I spent the remainder of the race stressing that my carbon rim would collapse at any given moment, but thankfully I just got through. My highlights of the day included being handed a fresh taco as I crossed the finish line (thanks taco taco), the awesome Mtn Trails track work, the camaraderie between riders, the cold moo brew, and special mention to Duncan and Sarah and the other volunteers for making this event happen. Oh yeah, winning a massive packet of dunny roll was pretty cool, too - does that make it the richest race in Australia ? Photo by KO Photography: by Kai & Olivia
