23.01.2022 Compliance Is Key - The best nutrition plan and training program is the one you can stick to. I could create the most effective, science/evidence based training and nutrition plan tailored to your needs but guess what if you can't actually stick to it it's a waste of time.... That's why it's important for me as a coach to listen to my clients, make sure my initial start up and assessment process is completed thoroughly. Then I pay close attention to my clients biofeedback so I can make adjustments to the plans in order for my clients to not only be training safely and effectively as well as have their nutrition plans but to ensure they are compliant and can actually stick to them to achieve their goals. .
22.01.2022 LETS BREAK DOWN THE WEIGHT LOSS METHOD - 1. Calorie Deficit: Eating 20% below your maintenance intake is a great place to start and great stepping stone up from just focusing on healthy eating/conventional dieting because staying at that level you will never get to your goal. -... 2. Tracking your food choices Using apps like MyFitnessPal is essential so that you can learn the calories and macros that are in foods you eat, which ensures you are able to meet your calorie deficit intake targets. More consistency = more results. - 3. Enjoyment Ensure 30% of your daily intake is devoted to fun foods that would usually be considered off limits like chocolate and ice cream This ensures you enjoy all the foods your eating and never feel like your being restricted or dieting. - 4. Progressive overload Being a cardio bunny or smashing too many group classes at your gym isn’t the best move. Instead focus on weight training and dialling in on heavy squats, deadlifts and bench press. Use isolation lifts like bicep curls, lat pull down, tricep extension to help progress your main lifts and get stronger. Don’t overdo the cardio as the body adapts too quickly. - 5. No plateaus With focus being spread across what’s been mentioned your body is in the consistent state of guesswork and therefore accustom to what your doing. Your body doesn’t care about your goals so you must give consistent reason to change and let go of body fat. Cardio and under eating while eating healthy won’t do the job! #weightloss #fatloss #themethod #progressiveoverload #noplataeus
20.01.2022 Liquid Calories Still Count - Liquid calories are often forgotten about. But they could be what's preventing you from losing weight. a lot of people forget or don't even realise the calories they are consuming through liquid.... If you were to have 2 lattes with 1 sugar, a glass of orange juice and 1 glass of red wine you have now just consumed roughly 400 calories. If you're consuming 1600 calories a day through food to be in a deficit and your maintenance calories are 2000 per day and you're not tracking your calories through liquid you have now cancelled out your deficit and you will not lose weight. Track your liquid calories. #trackyourliquids #trackcalories #trackyourcalories #learningnutrition #energybalance #tdee

17.01.2022 You can’t spot reduce fat - A question I get asked all the time is how do I lose fat from *insert body part. - You can’t spot reduce fat from one particular area on your body. So please stop doing endless sit ups and then getting disappointed because your abs still aren’t visible it’s just not going to work.... - You lose fat from you entire body through eating in a calorie deficit and a well structured training program. The first place fat genuinely starts to go is your face. Then depending on your genetics and hormone levels it will start dropping from all over your body. For males the most stubborn area and the last place to lose fat is around the abdominal region. For females it’s around your bum and thighs. - You can then use resistance training to add lean muscle mass to your body so that when your body fat levels are low you will have shape, muscle and a fit looking physique underneath the body fat. 14.01.2022 What Happens When You Eat A Bad Meal - We have all been there, when you have a meal that isn’t planned and isn’t something you would consume often but damn it tastes so good! Until it’s finished, you start feeling guilty and wishing you didn’t eat it. You start to think you have instantly gained body fat, you then head to the gym to smash yourself with cardio to work it off. This is an unhealthy relationship to have with food as you will not gain excess body fat from one ...bad meal. Nor should you have to do endless amounts of cardio in hope you have worked off the calories eaten for that meal. Eating delicious foods should be an enjoyable experience and not something you should have to punish yourself for. If you are worried about your health and want to be able to consume the foods you like without feeling guilty then learn to understand the energy value of the foods you eat. This is an extremely valuable tool that I believe everyone should learn at some point in their life time. Once you can understand energy balance and how much energy is in the foods you’re eating it enables you to eat more intuitively and make better decisions without putting your health at risk (gaining excess body fat). Having a healthy relationship with food is extremely important and I believe if everyone was to learn how to calculate their calories, understand macronutrients, how to be in a calorie deficit or surplus as well as how many calories are in the foods they eat more people would have a better relationship with food and less people would be over weight. #healthyrelationships #foodie #moderation #iifym #flexibledieter #lifestyleblogger #hollistichealth #calories #macros #macronutrients
14.01.2022 Turning Negatives Into Positives Having stressful moments is a common experience that we all deal with in our lives. The reason for your stress can be caused by your family, job, finances; or all of these factors being combined together. When your stress starts to become too hard to handle, you begin to look for ways to cope with the pressure that you are under. Most people tend to find coping mechanisms that only cause more harm, rather than doing good. The common coping m...echanisms are drugs, alcohol, and explosions of anger. Stressful moments are the perfect time to reflect upon what matters most in your life. Often times you are giving negative situations in your life more power than they should have. You will find that successful people always say that their mindset was a very important factor in them gaining their success. This is because if they welcomed defeating thoughts into their mind, they would have never earned their success. When things do not go your way, you need to take the time out and get your thoughts together. You react with emotions, rather than logic, you cause yourself to think of the worst. When logical thinking is used instead, you think of solutions that lead to a positive outcome for your situation. But, this cannot occur when you allow stress to corrupt your thoughts, which influence your actions. Today you are in control.Exercise to control your daily stressors and reduce the obesity crisis - Healthy mind, Healthy body! #stressmanagement #stressreliever #exerciseforstress #cortisol #cortisolcontrol #stressandexercise #stressreduction #mentalhealth #incontrol

13.01.2022 Work Ethic - Stress, sleep, training & nutrition are all things you want to focus on optimising in order to achieve the results that you deserve. But with all the clients I have worked with over the last 10 months the difference between the ones who have achieved good results and the ones who have achieved great results has been their work ethic.... They push themselves with their training every workout aiming to better their performance each week, they are vigilant with their nutrition hitting their calorie and macronutrient targets most days, they manage their stress and sleep and implement lifestyle changes if these need to be addressed. They are super consistent in all these areas which enables them to perform and feel their best. I believe the determining factor to why these people have a higher work ethic is their WHY and their GOALS are a priority and they will do whatever it takes to achieve them. So if you’re someone who could improve your overall work ethic maybe you need to re assess your goals and find YOUR why. #workethic #walkthewalk #fitnessgoals #fitnesssuccess #keeppushing
13.01.2022 ’ , , Life is going to happen. You’re going to miss workouts occasionally and forget to log some foods.... When these things happen, it’s important to have a system in place where it doesn’t take much to get right back at it. You're not wrong. Comparing yourself to the past you, however, is a losing fight no matter what. You are not the same person you were 2, 5 or even 10 years ago. It’s time to look at the present and move forward with what you have going on now. Currently, you are busier than ever and trying to maintain a social life AND trying to lose body fat. It feels like something's got to give, and that tends to fall on your fat loss goals. You have to work WITH your lifestyle and not against it to create long lasting change. That means, if you don't like cardio, don’t do it. It means that you should not be eating foods you hate, life’s too short for that. It means you should not be doing super long workouts because your schedule obviously doesn’t work with it. You need: , , -They will bring you the result you desire with simple movement patterns and a progression style that is simple to keep track of - leaving you to actually live your life outside of the gym. -How you reach your calories is entirely up to you, but having structured meal ideas makes losing fat almost effortless as you can plug and play with your favourite foods - while sprinkling in some fun ones. These two elements are how I have helped so many of my super busy clients continue to see progress and maintain it after we’re done working together. In my coaching program, I provide all my clients with sample meal plans, workouts, and habits to simplify this process. Photo credit: Neil Buonaccorsi
13.01.2022 My 2 favourite fat burning supplements - I get asked this question quite a bit. What is my favourite fat burning supplement?... My answer is a calorie deficit. Fat burning supplements do not burn fat. They may help stimulate you as they are full of caffeine and other stimulating ingredients which could increase your movement therefore burning more calories which could put you into a calorie deficit. But they do not just burn fat from your body simply from taking them. Don't you think if they really worked the way they say they do everyone would be taking them and we wouldn't have an obesity epidemic? They don't it's just a way shredded and lean people can endorse bullshit products to make money off people who are looking for the "quick fix". Well I'm sorry to inform you there is no quick fix. Eat in a calorie deficit, be consistent and be patient you will get the results that you deserve.
13.01.2022 Be Patient - Everyone wants results yesterday. This is great and I love working with people who are driven and motivated to achieve a certain result. Although the reality is it takes time, consistency and patients to achieve your health and fitness goals which will also vary quite considerably depending on the person and their goals.... You didn't get yourself in this position of poor health and 20kg over weight in a couple of week so don't expect to reverse it in a couple of weeks. If you're looking to achieve results in a healthy sustainable way playing the long game is generally the best way to go about it. Why? because if you play the long game you have taken the time to implement positive and sustainable lifestyle habits. You have started to create a more positive relationship with food. You have educated yourself on how to control your nutrition in a way that you can maintain it long term. You have also implemented a training regime that fits into your lifestyle that hopefully you enjoy. In my experience the people who have gotten rapid results and lost 20kg in 8 weeks find it very hard to maintain the results they have gotten, they have neglected their health in the process, they feel shit and they generally put all the weight back on not too long after they have lost it. Play the long game. Enjoy the journey. Be bloody patient!! @neil.photo @avbfitness1
10.01.2022 What is worth the investment to you? For most people, it would be a home, a good vehicle, a vacation, house items or wedding. For others, it would be smaller things, like getting to enjoy that drink from the local coffee shop every morning, getting their nails done each month, getting their hair done, or buying the latest boots for winter.... Now, whatever category you just fell in; have you ever thought about investing in your health? Your mental health. Your emotional health. Your physical health. We don’t think twice about forking out $5 for a coffee every other day, $50 for a mani/pedi, $150+ for our hair, or $70 on those cute boots, but when it comes to our health, forget about spending money!! That’s a rip off!! WHHYYY?! Why do we not take our HEALTH as serious as we do the others?! Coffee is gone within an hour, nail polish chips, hair color fades, boots wear out, but our health is with us FOR LIFE. We can either choose to keep making excuses (because lets be honest, that’s what they are), or change our priorities to what really matters.. our longevity. I want to be as healthy as I can for as long as I can; for me, my partner, my family, my furry kids, my future human kids, & future futureee grandkids down the road. If I have to hire a coach to teach and show me the tools to making that happen, then you better believe I will. BECAUSE INVESTING IN MYSELF IS WORTH IT. Is it worth it to you?! Consistency in exercise or bed ridden with injuries and debt.... you decide.
09.01.2022 Change Your Mindset - A big part of AVB ‘s success is shifting our clients mindset. I believe people get far too focused on the end result and this can lead to a big drop in motivation and then sustainability and adherence goes out the window.... Don't get me wrong you need to have a goal but most people are so focused on losing *insert amount of weight and looking a certain way they forget the bigger picture. I like to get my clients to focus on creating good habits and hitting every day milestones as well as performance based goals. I get them to focus on drinking enough water, training regularly, prioritising sleep, moving more and cooking their own meals. If they can get these things right on a more consistent basis guess what? they will achieve their goals of losing weight, looking good etc. Every day counts. . . . . #fitness #health #training #workout #happiness #fitnessaddict #fitlife #getfit #weights #fitfam #nutrition #healthylifestyle #gymtime #motivation #fitspo #muscle #core
08.01.2022 WHAT DO YOU HATE ABOUT YOUR BODY THE MOST !!!! For a good amount of time now I am training clients from all walks of life. Obese , diabetic, women with PCOS / THYROIDS , men with less confidence and more insecurity and bigger diversions etc. Each one of them that comes to me and asked me for my help , confirms one thing and it is that they want THE CHANGE. So, how the changes happens ? This is what mostly don’t understand. . . . .... None of them got obese over night , none of them caught diabetes or some other health hazard just the next day when they woke up. It took time. The TRANSITION took time. . . . You know many of clients leave the journey mid way or just don’t continue the fitness journey because they don’t see any results initially or for some time. They fail to understand the process and fail to trust it as well. They want things changing at a rapid pace. . . . . . The FAT LOSS shall happen within weeks. The MUSCLES shall develop within months and the complete physical transformation shall happen within a quarter. . . . . PATIENCE - the key which most of them fail to understand. Just because someone could to it in a matter of weeks and change drastically , doesn’t mean you need to get dishearten and doesn’t mean you are not doing enough work. . . . . When we were in school some of us took more time to learn things than other though being taught by the same teacher , though going through the same course books, though putting enough efforts into our exams. . . . Did you give up then !!! Certainly not Should you give up now !!! NO WAY! Changes will happen , nobody can defeat the one who is consistent YOUR BEST EFFORTS DESERVE THE BEST COACH. #teamavbfitness #avbfitness #wellnesscoach #personaltrainerhobart #pt #onlinept #time #dedication
08.01.2022 Coach + Client = Team - I have had far too many clients who have come to me after working with a coach who has made them feel worse than when they started with them. This saddens me greatly. A client and a coach should be a team who work together to achieve a result. It shouldn’t be one against the other.... A client should feel comfortable to come to their coach about anything in relation to their health & fitness and not feel scared to do so. To often I hear of coaches getting so mad at their clients for not eating clean foods, missing a workout or maybe having a couple of drinks on the weekend. To the point the client will stop being honest with their coach in fear they will get mad and then the TRUST is lost. They will then be more likely to not follow your plans in spite of the way you make them feel. You both need to be able to work together to come up with strategies and solutions to the problems the client may be facing to ensure that they still get the results they deserve. Yes sometimes that client may need a good talking to and some strategies to implement to improve their self discipline but they shouldn’t be made to feel small because they didn’t eat chicken and broccoli for every meal like their coach who is a robot with no personality wants them to. At AVBFITNESS we Work TOGETHER to overcome obstacles and make changes to the plans until you find what works best for YOU and YOUR lifestyle. If your coach makes you feel like a bad person and doesn’t treat you with respect. Well my advice is find a new coach. Maybe we can help but be quick. We only have 2 spaces before full capacity. #teamavb #avbfitness #personaltrainerhobart #personaltrainer #lifestylecoach #teamwork #dreamworks

03.01.2022 Macronutrient Value - This may be common knowledge to most of you. Yet I still have this conversation regularly explaining the calorie value of macronutrients. I think this is something everyone should be aware of and understand. 1g of Protein = 4 calories... 1g of Carbohydrates = 4 calories 1g of Fats = 9 calories 1g 0f Alcohol = 7 calories Being aware of how much energy you're consuming could very well be the determining factor in wether you're getting results or not.
