I just love defence mechanisms, which we use all the time in order to keep ourselves safe from the truth of us and others. Defences like denial, suppression and sublimation as well as many ...others. We all know about denial (telling ourselves we’ve only had one bar of chocolate this week, the other didn’t count because it was given to us) or suppression (I tripped over my own feet and landed in a rose bush with my dress over my head and simply pretend that because I’ve blocked it from my memory, it didn’t actually happen).
