20.01.2022 C Grade match report V Pyalong @ home. On a nice warm day for cricket, we won won the toss and had a bat with Jake and Cody opening up, putting on 24 before Jake departed, bringing chayse to the crease, both boys batting well before Cody holed out, azza and Jamo followed quickly bringing new recruit Jared Byers to the crease who took off where he left off 18 years ago with a controlled, skilful innings and with chayse consolidated our innings before James, Andy, Lucas and jac...k added some all important runs at the end, all out for 91. Chayse and Cody opened the bowling with great success both getting early wickets, with good catching and tight bowling, we had pyalong on the ropes, 7/40 odd at drinks azza and Jamo both ended with 3, chayse and Cody 2 each, bowling pyalong out for 60 odd, catch of the day was taken at short cover by chayse, one of the only players at the club that could hang on to a screamer like that, a great bowling/fielding performance, hope to see everyone at training on Thursday so we can continue this great start to our season, See more

20.01.2022 B-GRADE | Avenel 4/200 defeated Broadford 148. We ventured to Broadford on Saturday, with several of our regulars unavailable, some of our younger C-Graders put their hand up - namely Jamison Black, Harry Wall and Jack Skinner (with Jack making his B-Grade debut). A special thanks to Aaron Kent, Shaun Pearce and Alex Smith for helping us out on short notice, also. On the game itself, we won the toss and decided to have a bat, Broadford's bowlers starting off well, taking 3 e...arly wickets to have us on the ropes at 3/31 before we rallied thanks largely to another Bailey Clark century (102) and a 4th wicket partnership of 153 runs with Duncan Lowis. This allowed us to post a very competitive total of 200 at the conclusion of our innings. With the ball-in-hand, we used 8 different bowlers, with the pick being Andrew Dowling and part-time cricketer, Shaun Pearce - both ending up with identical figures of 3/24 off their 9 overs. Jamie Kanters with the new ball and Aaron Kent at the end picked up 2 wickets each to round out the innings. A good win and thanks to everyone who made themselves available. This weekend is our last game before the break - at home against Eastern Hill, thanks to the reshuffled B-Grade draw.

19.01.2022 B-Grade Report We ventured down to Kilmore for what surprisingly turned out to be an excellent day for cricket. Kilmore batted first, and started strongly. At one stage they were 2/87, before consistent wickets had them all out for 146. For us, the wickets were evenly spread - however, Bailey Clark (2/8) and Harry Wall (2/9) were the best performers.... In response, we lost an early wicket with stand-in opener Kasey Duncan being clean bowled for 6. From there, Josh Aiken (74) and Bailey Clark (47) put on a batting exhibition in a 114-run-partnership. Despite losing some late wickets, we passed the total 4 down. Thanks again to the guys who made themselves available, next week we're at home.

04.01.2022 C Grade match report v Kilmore white @ home With a few of our regular’s on b grade duty, we went into the game with a few new faces, and a new stand in skipper, Chayse Thomson. Who had a good start in winning the toss and sending Kilmore in. Chayse and Cody opened up and we soon found out it was going to be a tough day in the field with wickets very hard to get and some missed opportunities making it harder. At drinks Kilmore were 2/83. New recruit Jared smith bowled well to ...snare a wicket and James walls first spell for the season also getting him a wicket, Andy and Luke bowled a few each but Kilmore went on the attack posting a massive 216. Blacky and Jed opened the batting and dug in to try give us some hope of running down the huge total. At drinks we were 1/89, and there was a growing glimmer of hope. Jed and chayse were playing some of the finest cricket shots you are likely to see smashing the Kilmore attack all over the ground before Jed holed out at mid on for a brilliant 86, with the job not yet done Jared Byers took to center stage with chayse and continued the onslaught, with 2 overs remaining we passed the total, chayse finishing unbeaten on 60 and Jared also not out on 26, one of the best c grade run chasers the club has ever had. Huge thanks go out to our fill ins Jared and Lindsey smith and Lucas black, both Lindsey and Lucas doing a great job in the field, Also a big thanks to head curator Jeff wheeler for rolling up a belter 434 runs and only 6 wickets for the day, great job. Hope to see everyone at training on Thursday so we can build on this outstanding start. See more
