25.01.2022 Ok, so I've tried to make this brief, but in answer to a fairly common question... A Myotherapist treats soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement caused by muscle or myofascia dysfunction. Myofascia are the thin, fibrous sheets of tissue that surround and separate muscles. Ligaments and tendons are comprised of bundled myofascia. A chiropractor focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment through manual adjustment and/...or manipulation of the spine. An Osteopath works to treat and strengthen the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine. Its aim is to positively affect the body's nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems. As a massage therapist I manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body in order to relieve pain, rehabilitate injuries, reduce stress, increase relaxation, and oxygenation of the blood and aid in the general wellness of my beautiful clients. My new GIFT CERTIFICATES should be available in the next week or so, so if you feel like giving the gift of healing hands, call me or message me. 1 hour - $60 1 and 1/2 hour - $70

16.01.2022 Truly extraordinary people are drawn to Avenel. Lucette Cornell has created this amazing natural washing detergent. I use it for everything. Dishes, laundry, dilute and use in a spray bottle. It cleans glass. It's 100% natural. It comes made up (needs to be refrigerated) or in a powder form. You only need 30ml for a wash. My laundry smells amazing and the wash is beautiful. It's all I will use for my massage linen. If you would like to know more please visit her site www.lu...secostore.com. If I was making a Christmas hamper up this year. This would definitely make the list....and a massage voucher of course!

07.01.2022 CUPPING. Whilst the true origin of cupping still remains uncertain, the earliest recorded use of cupping came from the famous alchemist and herbalist, Ge Hong (281-341 A.D.). Cups create a vacuum. This saturates tissues with fresh blood, whilst pulling stagnant blood from the area. It helps the tissue develop new blood flow and promotes anti-inflammatory chemicals in the body. ... As new blood is forced into the tissues around the cups the body will begin to develop new blood vessels. This is called neo-vascularization, and promotes new blood vessel formation. As the new vessels form they will have the capability to feed the tissues with nutrient and oxygen. Early in this process, something called sterile inflammation occurs. Inflammation is the first line of healing. The body releases white blood cells, platelets, fibroblasts and other healing chemicals to promote healing. When the vacuum occurs it causes separation of the different layers of tissue which can cause micro trauma and tearing. These healing chemicals release and stimulate healing. The inflammation is not chronic nor is it bad. The fascia and tissue can be stretched several feet with cupping. As the micro trauma occurs, the new blood vessels are being formed and the blood and nutrients are starting to flow to the damaged tissue. The majority of Avenel Massage's Clients include cupping as part of their regular massage therapy. For more information please contact us to discuss.

02.01.2022 Charley Horse cramping your style? Muscle cramps (often known as a Charley Horse) present as strong, painful contractions or tightening of a muscle that come on suddenly and last a few seconds to several minutes. Whilst they often occur in the legs (particularly the calves), people also complain of cramps in their arms and abdominals. Often a muscle that is cramping feels harder than normal to the touch or may even show visible signs of twitching. What causes cramps?... Whilst it’s not know exactly what causes cramps, it’s considered the following may well attribute: dehydration insufficient stretching before exercise exercising in the heat muscle fatigue imbalances in the levels of electrolytes, sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium and phosphate in the blood muscle strain holding a position for a prolonged period of time How can you stop a muscle cramp when it happens? Once leg cramps set in, the best method to relieve them is movement, either walking around or simply jiggling or shaking your leg, pumping your ankles up and down or rubbing the muscles Alternatively, try to stretch and massage the muscle (nb: don’t massage too deeply as this can exacerbate the cramp) Take a warm shower or bath to relax the muscle. A heating pad placed on the muscle can also help. Alternatively, some people find using an ice or cold pack. (nb: always keep a cloth between your skin and the ice pack. Drink plenty of fluids. Sports drinks, such as Gatorade, will often help leg cramps. Prevention always better than a cure. Health experts recommend getting at least 300 milligrams of magnesium each day. A supplement can help you reach your daily allowance, but so can eating foods rich in magnesium, such as nuts, lentils, and quinoa. Drink plenty of fluids and eat a well-balanced meal before heading out for a long run. Many athletes suggest eating a potassium-rich banana once you reach the finish line. And last, but by no means least. Someone once recommended you drink the juice from a jar of pickles. I have one gorgeous client that bought me a couple of jars of these Morello Cherries (you can pick them up at Aldi on occasion). Apparently, Bob Hawk swears by them for warding off the old Charley Horse! One thing I can recommend most highly however is regular massage. Increasing blood circulation is an exceptional way to maintain wellness. For more information call me or drop me a line on Facebook.
