13.01.2022 Why does my salt lamp bleed? It's an unusual question isn't it? But, we are asked this question all the time... "Why does my Salt Lamp Bleed?" Generally the first question I ask is, "Is you lamp always turned ON?". And the answer is always "No".... Himalayan Salt is Highly Hydroscopic. It draws higher amounts of water vapour from the air than regular salt. If the Salt Lamp is not 'warmed' by the globe when it's turned on, then the water vapour will condense on the surface of the lamp, and through the action of gravity, will drop to the base forming small pools of water....otherwise known as 'bleeding'. To avoid your Salt Lamp bleeding either leave it turned ON all the time (or for as long as possible), or cover it with a plastic bag to isolate it from the surrounding air. This will add years to your lamp and produce negative ions which is what they are intended to do
