22.01.2022 ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE As we say goodbye to 2020 and the year it’s been, I take a few moments to reflect. For so many this has been an unbearable year. A year of loss, grief, uncertainty, fear and chaos. But what it’s also shown us is incredible human spirit, resilience and determination to keep moving forward.... For us, personally, compared to what we’ve been through, this year wasn’t as bad and in some ways what we’d been through helped us to process, learn and grow through. In March just days before going into lockdown I had an idea to write a book; in June I started exploring the possibilities of that idea unsure if I should pursue it. In August a podcast I did was aired in which I shared my story. The response I received from it solidified the need to write the book. So in September I set out with a goal to launch a book this year. The task seemed almost impossible and many people I approached said it was unrealistic. But I really wanted to get it out this year. I wanted to be able to look back and remember 2020 for something other than the year it’s been. I wanted to be able to end the year giving people a sense of hope, positivity and possibility. Despite what others said, my wife, mum and sister believed in me. I found an amazing editor, both of us taking a chance on each other; and with the help of a super designer, I set out to do something I had never, ever attempted before. To write, edit, publish and launch a book in under 4 months. The journey has been absolutely incredible. It’s been one of the steepest learning curves. On many occasions I thought we might not make it, but was determined to keep going. I am so blessed to be surrounded by amazing people who believed in me. After months of slogging and many sleepless nights, on 28 Dec Growing Through went on presale and within hours was best-selling internationally. To say I’m blown away by the response is an understatement. I am so humbled and extremely touched by the love, support, encouragement and comments flowing in. Thank you all so very very much.
