This includes tourism services provided by Aviair, HeliSpirit, Bungle ...Bungle Guided Tours and the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge. This certainly was not an easy decision for us, although as we live and operate in the region, we feel a strong sense of social responsibility to not only keep our guests and employees safe, but also to protect our broader Kimberley community. Freshwater East Kimberley Apartments will continue to operate and we have implemented stringent sanitisation procedures to ensure the safety of our staff and guests. Jack has been with Aviair for just under 2 years and is a long term Kununurra local, moving here when he was just 3 years old. ... A day in the life of Jack at Aviair consists of organising inwards and outwards movements of parts, working with the engineers to ensure we have the right stock on hand, making sure our parts are compliant, as well as sending off items such as pressure gauges to be regularly calibrated, just to name a few. Jack enjoys interacting with the suppliers and running this department to ensure everything is spot on. When we asked Jack why he loves living in the Kimberley, he mentioned that boating and camping are what make him happy, living in Kununurra allows him to do this frequently. He also mentioned theres a great sense of community living in this region. (You may be thinking Jack looks familiar, he once co-hosted a kids show when he was younger, showing behind the scenes of the Fremantle Dockers Football Club in Perth). Aviair is pleased to advise that we will continue to operate our East Kimberley scheduled air services to provide travel options for essential passengers and freight to Halls Creek and the remote Aboriginal communities of Kalumburu and Balgo. The flights, which are currently only available to essential travellers, now include two weekly return trips between Kununurra and Kalumburu, as well as two weekly return services... between Kununurra, Halls Creek and Balgo. These services are supported by the Australian Government through the Regional Airline Network Support program, with one of the weekly Balgo services supported by the WA Department of Transport. Aviair is working with the communities to ensure that all passengers utilising the service are abiding by imposed travel restrictions to ensure the ongoing safety of the communities in which we operate. This not only includes Aviair and HeliSpirit, but also taking bookings for Bungle Bungle Guided Tours, Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge and Kimberley Experiences in our main booking office. Sharlotte has been with us for a year now and originally hails from Grafton NSW. A normal day here in the main office consists of making bookings (scenic, charters and air...lines flights) and taking enquiries, putting together custom corporate charter quotes, operational assistance with daily flights, as well as creating tailor-made Kimberley holiday itinerary packages for customers, just to name a few. Sharlottes favourite parts about working here are being able to create amazing holidays and experiences for customers, as well as being able to connect people to remote communities via our flight services. When we asked Sharlotte what she would say to anyone thinking about visiting the Kimberley region, she says that everyone just needs to experience it and dont know what youre missing out on if you havent been here. Some highlights for Sharlotte so far have been experiencing the mighty Mitchell Falls in the north Kimberley, also visiting the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge, luxury in such a remote location. Aviair, and our pilot/tour guide, Greg, provided a unique sightseeing opportunity. ... After take-off from the airport, we flew over Kununurra and parts of the Ord River Irrigation area before tracking back over Lake Kununurra, the Diversion Dam and Lake Argyle on our way to the Bungle Bungle Range within Purnululu National Park. It was all spectacular, and, I think, best appreciated from the air. Then to the diamond mine for a look around the gift shop, a delicious lunch in the very well appointed Workers Village, and a bus tour of the mine site. (This is best appreciated from ground level). The scale of this mine is enormous. The tales of its discovery and history very educational and very colourful! The return flight was just as interesting over different landscapes with a track a little west of our flight down. I can highly recommend this tour.
