22.01.2022 Foxtel's latest Set-Top-Box (STB), the IQ3 has not been as good as it's predecessor in many ways it seems but the bad publicity is not for any of the reasons I had found. See an article from earlier this year about why it has not been good for everyone involved: http://www.channelnews.com.au/foxtel-to-launch-roku-type-b/ Many users have benefited from the Foxtel takeover of Austar sometime ago now with Foxtel's far superior satellite STB models it gave users an opportunity t...o get rid of the slow, unstable & nasty Thompson T600 (Austar Mystar) in favor of the far superior IQ2 unit. I was one of them after the T600 contributed to killing the HDMI card in my Integra AV Receiver. The IQ2 is the best pick still, one major benefit being it doesn't require an antenna signal to receive FTA (Free-To-Air) TV unlike the T600 which requires an almost "text-book" signal to provide FTA channels. Sadly, the IQ3 takes a step in the wrong direction by introducing the requirement for an antenna signal to be able to view FTA TV channels. The absence of analogue AV outputs on the IQ3 also potentially creates problems for certain users and their systems.

15.01.2022 There has been a bit of a lull in the range of proper 'high-end' televisions (smart TV, if you prefer..) for sometime now, in fact I would say over a year or two, but I am biased! Panasonic have never disappointed when it comes to bringing us quality & the best value for money. With pretty much all the other Japanese electronics companies no longer producing TVs available for overseas markets, this is looking like it will fill the long empty shoes of the Pioneer Kuro plasma..... 01.01.2022 With all the fuss over the role-out of the NBN throughout Australia, it is nice to see we are indeed not behind the rest of the world in receiving new infrastructure technology. While the latest fibre-to-the-curb (FTTC) will not go to everyone, it shows the reality of implementation of high-spec technology making it's way into our infrastructure.
