25.01.2022 Today marks the start of Airport Safety Week 2020. This year's theme is ‘We are in this together’ with airports taking part in daily events and webinars such as... Wellness during COVID-19, Safety Management Systems and the important Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walk. Airport Safety Week is an opportunity to show the travelling public how we ensure high safety standards right across the airport sector. It’s also a chance to engage with staff and bring people together, which has been particularly difficult in the past few months. 24.01.2022 It's not only on-airport sites that need to be managed. Off-airport sites can also create birdstrike issues. What sites do you have near your airport? #birdstrikes #safety

21.01.2022 Avisure starts a Reconciliation Action Plan! At the beginning of 2020, Avisure in collaboration with sister company Ecosure started a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with Reconciliation Australia. You might ask what is a RAP?... It’s a program that provides a framework for organisations to support the national reconciliation movement. There are four stages to the RAP Reflect, Innovate, Stretch, Elevate. A RAP is a strategic document that supports our business plan and includes practical actions to drive our contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the communities, we operate in. It prepares our organisation for reconciliation initiatives, allowing us to scope and develop relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders. Through this process we decide on the specific actions we will commit to that are meaningful, mutually beneficial and sustainable. Ultimately, our RAP helps Avisure develop respectful relationships and create meaningful opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is the demonstration of our commitment to recognise and support diversity in cultures and values and foster collegiality, collaboration and reconciliation between the First Peoples of Australia and the wider Australian community.

16.01.2022 Birdstrike can cause minor damage or may even rupture the side of a plane. If you have issues with birds on or around your airport, give us a call and we can assist. #birdstrike

16.01.2022 Wasps...Small...but oh so Significant Birds and other vertebrates are well known hazards to aviation at airports, however the threat of invertebrates, like wasps, is less understood. Our Managing Director Phil Shaw, who was the lead consultant on this important piece of work, looked at the impact of the keyhole wasp on the aviation industry. Phil co-authored with former Ecosure Principal Ecologist Alan House (now with @EcoLogical) a scientific paper on a 39-month study at Br...isbane Airport. The study assessed the risk to flight safety by the Brazilian mud-nesting keyhole wasp (Pachodynerus nasidens). Aircraft pitot tubes are an attractive nesting site for wasps, blocking the tube. Pitot tubes measure airspeed, and blockages cause faulty measurements. This could lead to catastrophic outcomes. The study experimented with covering the pitot tubes to see if this reduced nesting. Risk was greatly reduced with tubes being covered on arrival of the aircraft at the BNE airport. This is significant when the cost of wasp management on airport is set against the costs of an aircraft incident. 15.01.2022 Check out this great article from Flight Safety Australia, Bird on the runway by Margo Marchbank where she writes about bird hazards at airports.

14.01.2022 This is pretty amazing. It's not everyday you see a bear at an airport! How are you preventing wildlife on the runway?

05.01.2022 Coming Soon! Training webinar developed by Avisure that covers the basic training required by the new MOS 139.

05.01.2022 This is exciting news.

02.01.2022 The 26th of August is International Dog Day. The working dogs at Avisure wish you and your four-legged friends a very happy day. #internationaldogday

02.01.2022 We all love the "music" made by birds, but the composers in the below links have taken it to the next level. This music was composed using pictures of "birds on a wire" as inspiration. Check them out, they are amazing. ... https://vimeo.com/6428069 https://twitter.com/i/status/1282238965228212224
