24.01.2022 We have had so many people asking how they can help the Barnes family at this tragic time. In the spirit of our loving and supportive community, if you would like to help with the catering for Jess' wake you could bring any of the following: A fruit platter, cheese platter, sandwiches or wrap plates or a sweet treats plate. The wake will be held at the Surf Club after the service. If you would like to help please contact either Sonya on 0403 748 348 or Kylie on 0413 934515 and we can let you know the details. Thank you

20.01.2022 With changes to the Covid-19 regulations we will be able to open the gym to members without the need of a Marshall. Numbers cannot exceed the capacity on the Covid-19 information sheet. Other Covid-19 precautions must still be adhered to. Each member entering the gym should tag in to register their attendance. These changes will occur on Tuesday after the official opening of the change room renovations. Please note that all access should now be by tag or card. If you don’t have one contact Kylie on Tuesdays or Thursdays. They will also be available from 9am - 10.30am this Saturday.
20.01.2022 Great news as we hit the 70% vaccination rate! We can start to reopen the Club and our facilities. As we have been doing, it is still essential for masks to be worn indoors (eg captains office, gear sheds, Sunsets) and you need to use the QR Code to sign in. Our hospitality staff will be wearing masks when outdoors. The current regulations are 1 person per 4m2 indoors and 1 per 2m2 outdoors. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Sunsets Bistro next Monday, bookings ...are recommended. Our Gym and changerooms will be open at 70% vaccination rate if you are double vaxxed. We must use the QR code to enter and abide by the square metre rules and masks must be worn. We need COVID marshalls to meet the COVID requirements so if anyone wants to volunteer to be a COVID Marshall please email [email protected] so we can start to organise openi ng hours . Craft will be allowed to be stored and accessed in the sheds again. Gordon Jones will be organising designated times to put the craft back in so if you could please visit the FB competitors page over the weekend for details. There is a 20 people outdoors at the 70% vaccination and 200 people outdoors when we hit 80% which means Nippers will be able to resume. We will be in contact with more details soon. Thanks everyone for your patience during this trying times and we look forward to everybody being able to enjoy our Club and facilities

09.01.2022 It is with great great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Steve Jung. As many of you know Steve both patrolled and competed for Avoca SLSC for many years, a truly great member of our Surf Club. He achieved the National Medal in 2019. Steve was such a friendly character, always had a smile and a hello for everybody. Both Steve and his wife Anita have a lot of good friends in the Surf Club as they have always been so active, particularly in Masters organising and attending World Titles all over the world which I am sure will be treasured memories for many of you. Steve will be missed by many people in our Club. Our hearts are with Anita and their children.

04.01.2022 Due to new Covid-19 regulations related to gyms we will need to close our gym until satisfactory arrangements can be made. This may involve set times for opening or designated people from user groups delegated as a Covid-19 Marshall. To assist in this process we need to know if you would be interested to undertake the role as a Covid-19 Marshall to assist this process. If we are unable to get volunteers for these tolds the gym must remain closed until regulations close. Additional to this is the refurbishment of the change rooms which will take place in September, thanks to a NSW Government Grant. This will also restrict access for a period of time. We hope that you are understanding of the situation and assist the club during this time.
