07.01.2022 JobKeeper August declaration due - 14th September. What happens with three JobKeeper fortnights in August? The August declaration is different you’ll need to claim for:... - Fortnight 9 from 20 July to 2 August - Fortnight 10 from 3 August to 16 August - Fortnight 11 from 17 August 2020 to 30 August. You don't need to adjust your pay cycle for JobKeeper payments. When you're paying eligible employees, if the payment doesn't fit within the JobKeeper fortnight, you can allocate the payment within the fortnight in a reasonable manner. The ATO expect you to pay three fortnights of at least $1,500 per fortnight before the end of August.

01.01.2022 This is brilliant change to see coming to the accounting industry! During the coronavirus pandemic, accountants have played a huge role in many business owners lives as well as their employees. We have supported our clients in this very uncertain time by providing advice, assisting in JobKeeper applications & ongoing associated monthly reporting, as well as ensuring our clients kept up to date with the constant government changes that are impacting every Australian. Accounta...nts are still seeing first hand how the virus has impacted Australians not only financially but also emotionally. This funding will go a long way in helping accountants be better equipped to assist clients not only on business advice level, but also on a deeper emotional & psychological level as well. The training will never replace the important role psychologists, counsellors and social workers play in our society, but will definitely go a long way in equipping accountants to help manage clients that are suffering. https://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//15031-government-inve

01.01.2022 Varying your PAYG instalments. Due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the ATO won't apply penalties and interest for excessive pay as you go (PAYG) instalment variations when you make your best attempt to estimate your end of year tax. This is in recognition of difficulties you may face in making accurate estimates of final tax liabilities in these uncertain economic times. If you varied your PAYG instalment amounts in 201920 due to COVID-19, you may need... to vary your instalments again for 202021 if your instalment amounts don't reflect your current financial circumstances. You can also vary your PAYG instalment rate or amount if you have an approved substituted accounting period (SAP). Any variation must relate to instalments made during the corresponding SAP. If you're in the Top 100, Top 1,000 or Top 500 private groups programs, you will need to ensure any variation to your instalment rate or payments reflect your anticipated tax liability for 202021. The ATO don't expect you to vary your rate down if you anticipate making an end of year washup payment. Note that general interest charges may apply to outstanding PAYG instalment balances. Please contact us or your accountant if you need assistance with varying your PAYG instalments.
