25.01.2022 How cool is this? Its not every day that youre able to go into theatre together with a family member. Here are some photos of Dr Phil with his talented daughter Cara, a neonatal intensive care nurse, combining their skills to perform a spay on Caras new puppy Rey, a Golden Retriever.

25.01.2022 ****** DESEXING YOUR PETS ****** Everyone meet Lola! This gorgeous 2.65kg ball of fluff came in today to have her desexing procedure done. Our brave patient of the day has been inundated with so many affectionate cuddles! How could you not?! What an adorable 6 month old puppy! Can we please keep her??? WHAT IS DESEXING?... A general anaesthetic is given to females to remove both of the ovaries and the uterus. In males, both testicles are removed. DID YOU KNOW THAT THE BENEFITS TO YOUR PET ASSOCIATED WITH DESEXING ARE BOTH BEHAVIOURAL AND MEDICINAL? For example, a female cat or dog may be protected from breast cancer if desexed before her first birthday and there is no basis to the myth that she needs a litter of pups for her wellbeing. Desexed male cats and dogs become socially better pets by reduced aggression, but their guard instinct is still the same. A desexed male dog is also protected from numerous cancers and prostatic gland diseases. ADVANTAGES: - Living a longer and healthier life - Stopping the heat cycle in female pets and no unwanted litters - Preventing testicular cancer and prostate disease in male pets - Preventing pyometra (infection of the uterus) and mammary tumours (breast cancer) in female pets - Decreasing aggression towards humans and other animals can be avoided by early desexing - Desexed pets are generally much better behaved: no territory marking, no mounting furniture and/or people - Being less prone to wander, especially in male pets! - Desexing now attracts CHEAPER council registration for cats and dogs! Although the procedure can be completed at any stage of an animals life, we recommend desexing from approximately 5 months of age. We would be more than happy to discuss any concerns you have with your pets and look forward to providing the care needed for a valued member of your family!

09.01.2022 ********** PLEASE DO NOT feed any chocolate to your fur babies, even if they are being good boys and/or girls! ********** Chocolate can be toxic to dogs as they cant easily metabolise theobromine (the toxic part of chocolate), unlike their human owners! Although small amounts may only cause an upset stomach with vomiting and diarrhoea; large amounts can cause muscle tremors, seizures, an irregular heartbeat, internal bleeding or even a heart attack! Even though larger dogs can consume more chocolate than smaller dogs before having any effects, they should NOT be fed chocolate. Please be mindful to not leave any goodies laying around! After all... they are quite tempting!

08.01.2022 It was a Cavalier kinda day How cute is this photo!? Little miss Coco (on the left) was in for a teeth clean today and Ollie (on the right) was there for moral support ... Coco was a wonderful patient and she is feeling much better after having a clean and some very rotten teeth removed. Remember to have your pets teeth checked regularly to keep them happy and healthy Call us on 9331 1331 during our open hours to book in for a dental check.

08.01.2022 Check out her face markings Isnt she a cutie!? Puss Puss was desexed this morning and is recovering well ... Remember that desexing your cat is important, whether male or female, to stop them from straying and looking for a mate. It also reduces the risk of health issues down the track and can also settle them down so that they can be a lovely and calm pet.

07.01.2022 We were all touched by these beautiful flowers sent to us by a long term client. Thank you very much Ena. It has been wonderful looking after your fur family!

05.01.2022 Have you checked your dogs nails recently? Its important to check and trim your dogs nails regularly to avoid discomfort and potential injury. Nails can sometimes grow so long that they start to curl and grow into their pad which will cause them great pain and infection if left untreated. Check out the video below, which demonstrates how to trim your dogs nails safely at home.... Alternatively, we can also trim your dogs nails here at the clinic if you dont feel confident to do it yourself at home https://youtu.be/ZTbML0WNsGk
