21.01.2022 Remembrance Day (November 11). Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11 am in memory of those who have given so much in the line of duty to maintain the freedom we enjoy. We invite you to pause, reflect and give thanks for this sacrifice and to pray for the ongoing conflicts that plague countries around the world as we look forward to the time when God will indeed bring peace to all.Professor Kevin Petrie, Vice-Chancellor and President

14.01.2022 Everything changed for Christine when her parents died. Responsibility for the family farm rested on her shoulders; managing the land wasn’t easy. Starting or continuing a degree in circumstances like these would be difficult for anyone. Unless you have the right support. https://mailchi.mp/avondale/tk-magazine-vol-33-no-21

09.01.2022 When she was little, Tarnya Garner wanted to be a cowboy, and then a policeman. Now, she is the Women's Ministries Director for the Seventh-day Adventist Conference in Victoria, and Pastoral Intern at Nunawading SDA Church. Graduating this year, Tarnya will also be one of a few female pastors to graduate from a Bachelor of Ministry and Theology after studying completely by distance. She says the "caring lecturers at Avondale (with a big high five to Dr Lyell Heise)" were key in helping her in her journey. We're proud of you, Tarnya!

08.01.2022 (In celebration of World Poetry Day) Down by the old swing bridge, I jumped and played. A check point recording my changes, ... Like the pencil marks on a door frame. Down by the old swing bridge, Where lovers met, and travellers passed, I dreamed and dared to imagine, Terabithia and Narnia were fond friends. Down by the old swing bridge, The years rushed by. I had grown like the weeds on the bank. The fading paint and steady swing, Creaking with age and worn footprints, Framed the pebbled pathways Where my feet skipped. Leaning over the edge, The reflection now changed, Down by the old swing bridge. By Avondale alumna Kayla Carter - published in 'On First Looking' in 2018. Kayla says: "I was inspired by the bridge because my parents fell in love at Avondale. And they had talked about it while I was growing up and when we would come over to Aus for family vacations they would take us there so it literally was like a milestone in my life, especially when I ended up at Avondale myself." Kayla is currently working in New Zealand at Totara Springs Christian Centre doing admin and communications for their holiday camps.
