25.01.2022 "Trees can enhance farm productivity and provide farmers with another source of revenue through the sale of fruits, nuts or timberall while storing carbon dioxide."

25.01.2022 Have your say on WA's climate policy.

25.01.2022 Climate change has already sparked land-use change in some areas. Farmers need facts and support to consider what future climate conditions mean for their choice of enterprises.

24.01.2022 ***National Threatened Species Day 2018*** 82 years ago on 7 September the last Tasmanian Tiger died in captivity at Hobart Zoo. Since Europeans came to this co...untry a total of 27 mammals become extinct; from a total of 273 - thats 10% of our Aussie mammals! Landcarers across WA and Australia are working hard to replant habitat, control pests, reduce erosion and fight diseases that threaten our native species with extinction. One native animal at risk is the endangered quenda, or Southern Brown Bandicoot. Like many small mammals, without large parcels of dense vegetation near water and free from predators like cats and foxes, this species could be next. This little quenda was seen in the Perth Hills earlier this year foraging for food near the Leamurdie Falls National Park. Itd be great to see more of these in bushland a across all of WA! Please share a story with us today about what you and your community are doing to protect threatened species in your area. Wed love to hear about it - and so would the rest of the @WALandcareNetwork! #threatenedspeciesday #quenda @Perth_Hills @OurWAParks #WALandcareNetwork #landcareweek http://www.environment.gov.au//time-act-threatened-species

22.01.2022 Want to help our volunteer tree-planting crew hatch plans?

22.01.2022 Dear landholders who are considering tree plantations, #ABARES has looked at the economic potential for new plantation establishment in Australia, and recently tweeted "Under current market conditions, ABARES estimates that 4773 hectares of new hardwood plantations, and 24,009 hectares of new softwood plantations, could be established over the coming decades."

20.01.2022 OK, this is a pretty intense read. A few phrases jump out and make me think of Avongro's Activate the Wheatbelt community. "...a whole-hearted commitment to care for Earth-life and identification with the human community sharing that commitment..." "Creating congregations of conservation"... "...place-based congregations of commitment, richly informed with natural history and the relevant sciences, and anchored in hands-on practices of conservation but also open to larger possibilities of communion..." If you manage to read this whole thing, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

17.01.2022 A message from Liz Kington, Avongro volunteer: "So I've been involved in tree-planting in the Wheatbelt for a long time now, but when it's done by direct seeding (cos its cheaper) the nurseries and community miss out. Our program Activate the Wheatbelt (which started nearly 20-years ago at Perth City Farm & Men of the Trees) not only connects local and city people who want to plant trees, but also supports rural communities and raises heaps of awareness - we should all plant trees!!! Land repair in the West Australian Wheatbelt with people costs money so we're fund-raising to enable this... Avongro thanks you for your support."

16.01.2022 Whats the big difference between 1.5C and 2C global warming? The Australian Academy of Science made this vid about it, to coincide with the release of an IPCC report on 1.5C versus 2 warming. Its big. So, how to limit warming to 1.5C? ... As well as obviously reducing GHG emissions, the summary for policymakers (http://report.ipcc.ch/sr15/pdf/sr15_spm_final.pdf) says "Options in the land sector comprise agricultural and forest options, sustainable diets & reduced food waste, soil sequestration, livestock & manure management, reduced deforestation, afforestation & reforestation, responsible sourcing."

16.01.2022 Congratulations Ravensthorpe - your Wildflower show absolutely hums! A great story about how the incredible biological richness of your area supports such stron...g social pride and an influx of visitors spending time and money. Ravensthorpe is also a vital ecological link between the Great Western Woodlands and Fitzgerald River National Park. See more

15.01.2022 "Imagine if Australias private landholders, who manage half the countrys landmass, were investing significant funds into climate change reduction and environmental improvements. Thats the scenario a cross-industry coalition of agricultural, forestry and environment groups are working towards..."

14.01.2022 Western Australian Sandalwood news: Dutjahn Sandalwood scoops prestigious UN Equator award Dutjahn Sandalwood is "...an outstanding example of a local, nature-based solution to climate change and sustainable development... recognised for promoting cultural identity in WA, and supporting local livelihoods through the sustainable harvest of sandalwood oil for the global luxury perfume market." 07.01.2022 Have your say on WAs climate policy.

07.01.2022 Do you think Australia needs a long-term plan for farming and climate change? (Youd imagine itd have to involve trees.) If so, would you consider signing and sharing this?

05.01.2022 Great to be involved with Treemission!

04.01.2022 Another beautiful and busy day at our little Sandalwood farm

03.01.2022 Wheatbelt tree crops into eucalyptus oil, energy and biochar.

03.01.2022 When you are planning revegetation, silvopasture or a commercial tree plantation, do you look up climate change projections for your area when considering what to plant?
