20.01.2022 One of the unfortunate things coming out of COVID-19, and the way we all live our lives at present, is some of the sensationalist things some so called 'experts...' are stating in the media in regards to what we do with our dogs on a daily basis. The first was people trying to tell everyone how their newly adopted pets will all suffer from separation anxiety once we return to work. The current one flying around is about how dangerous it is to dress our dogs up for a photo opportunity to promote being socially responsible when in public. Let us tell you all right now that if putting a mask on a dog, that they can breathe through, just as we humans do, for 20 seconds to a minute to take a photo causes the dog so much stress that it is detrimental to the dogs health, then the owner/handler/trainer has a very serious problem with the socialisation aspect of their pet and they should be taking a good, long, hard look at themselves and their training and socialisation regime. Dogs are required to wear muzzles as part of every day work and life in multiple industries, and they do so with zero fuss or bother, and they wear those muzzles for extended periods of time, and under a high workload. This demonstrates that a dog that is properly trained and socialised can handle any such scenario. Here's the final word: Train and socialise your dog. Play dress ups with your dog. Take some photos of your dog for social media, and have some fun doing it, and don't listen to the drama queens trying to tell you that you're doing something wrong.
