18.01.2022 LOCAL TOURISM BOARD EMBRACES SOCIAL MEDIA TO PROMOTE THE AVON VALLEY 28th October 2013 Avon Tourism Inc has enhanced its online presence and can now be found on Facebook.... In Northam at the recent Annual General Meeting held Marketing Consultant and Avon Tourism Member Mrs Tanya Richardson said the new page had attracted over 100 ‘likes’ within days of its creation. The Board continues to work on strategies to build the strength of the Avon Valley brand to support tourism operators and businesses throughout the region, Ms Richardson said. An effective online presence is central to this strategy and we’re confident it will assist us to promote the Avon Valley as a great place to visit. Facebook has over 1.1 billion users, which translates into nearly one in two global internet users . By 2015, 9 out of 10 consumers will have a mobile subscription : 30% have used mobile apps to find accommodation deals 15% have downloaded mobile apps specific to upcoming holidays 72% post-holiday photos on a social network while still on holiday 46% check in to a location on social media while on holiday 70% update their Facebook status while on holiday Chairwoman Wendy Williams said the Facebook page complimented the revamped website (www.avonvalleywa.com.au) and would be a valuable tool for members to tap into. To maximise the benefits to our members we’re inviting them to contribute to the page with photographs, upcoming events, accommodation packages or special events, Mrs Williams said. To get things kick-started we’re offering a Heartlands Hamper valued at $155.00 to the member who attracts the most ‘likes’ for a post by November 30, 2013. 06.01.2022 This weekend is a good weekend to visit Northam. Come and see the emergence of the Avon Silos murals, follow the heritage trail depicted on the new street furni...ture in Fitzgerald street, track the elephant, and settle in at Bernard Park on Friday night for the last concert featuring PROOF Big Band. Over the weekend follow the progress of the new mural on Grey St, being painted by WA artist Chris Nixon, and enjoy the racing during the Flying Fifty......and with the AvonLink train running a special event service on Sunday there is plenty of reasons to Visit Northam this weekend.
