25.01.2022 Love how the virtual gastric band is in the news again with the inspiring Julia. She's lost 52kg over two years --- proving that not only does hypnosis work, but the results are long term. So happy for Julia and the changes she's making in her life. x #dietfreeweightloss
24.01.2022 Because it does. Who hasn’t fallen into the trap of... When these wobbly bits have gone, then I’ll love my body.... Or, I’ll enjoy my reflection and shop for clothes when I’m slimmer. "Yeah, sure I'll moisturise my thighs when they're size XS." We've all said it so ... Why is this bad news for weight loss? If this resonates with you then becoming your happy shape and size is going to be a challenge for you. When you tell yourself stories like I’ll love my butt when it’s the perfect peach, you’re giving yourself conditional love. And no-one, your beautiful self-included, responds well to conditional love. Conditional love is about judgement and is very shaming. It's saying, I don’t love you. sure, if you make some changes, then I’ll consider loving you. but right now, you’re not good enough for my love. Ouch. If your friend said those words to you, wouldn't you unfriend them? IMMEDIATELY!!! And yet we speak to ourselves like that. all the time. Conditional love is about beating yourself up. When you think about it, it’s an odd concept. And, we get so depressed, and down on ourselves we emotionally eat. So what is the answer then? Long term weight loss happens when you come from a position of acceptance, knowing that you already are perfect, whole and complete, right now. Un-learning our broken-ness Our broken-ness is learned, not innate. We need to un-learn the illusion of our broken-ness. Only kindness makes sense. Anything else is excruciating. We need to take care of our bodies with reverence instead of stuffing her beyond full every meal. We need to shop for lovely new clothes irrespective our current size. We need to moisturise our thighs even if they're not size XS. Start giving her unconditional love today. WConditional love is about judgment and is very shaming. current size. We need to moisturise our thighs even if they're not size XS. If you're ready to break the old patterns of beating yourself up and you’re ready to fall in love with your body, why not join me in my free Facebook group Peace With Food? (Link in bio) See more
23.01.2022 Today I'm encouraging you to watch the funny animal videos. Here's why... If you're anything like the good folk I've been speaking to recently, your sleep patterns are feeling wobbly.... Partly because of the recent daylight-saving change. Partly, worry due to the uncertainty around lockdown. Here's what I know to be true. The best way to guarantee a hideous night's sleep is to devour media reports just before bed. I get it. It's human nature to want to feel 'informed' about what's happening. It feels like a 'sensible' thing to do. But it's negatively impacting the quality of your sleep. Studies show that those who sleep less than seven hours a night are - 30% more likely to struggle with their weight - have a higher risk of developing diabetes - are more likely to feel depressed and anxious. Girlfriend, get your dosage of sleep! So, instead of ending your evening reading about the lockdown, why not watch something that makes you chuckle? Laughter really is the best medicine. It activates your good-feeling hormones, which helps you relax, which enables you to sleep. Who doesn't like a positive upward spiral? So, lovely, permission granted to watch the cute animal videos. Love etc, Avril
22.01.2022 Are you snacking and nibbling more than you usually would as a way of dealing with the lockdown cabin fever? I hear you. Many women have shared how boredom eating has become their way of dealing with the monotony of quarantine fatigue.... 'Automatic pilot' Often we boredom eat on 'automatic pilot' because it's an old habit that's been magnified by the uncertainty of lockdown. The problem is we're elbow deep in a packet of crisps or a bar of chocolate before we even realise what we're doing. Breaking the food trance There are plenty of things to do to break the boredom - that we could do - that doesn't involve opening the fridge or biscuit tin. But at that moment, we forget there are other options. So today, what I encourage you to do is pop a post-it on your fridge or your desk drawer or the biscuit tin. This note needs to read: "Are you really hungry? Or are you bored?" What this note does is give you the space to be able to see the possibility of doing something else. It breaks that trance we can fall into when we're stuck in old unhelpful habits. Seeing the post-it on the pantry door can be enough to remind us to do something else. You're bored. You're NOT hungry. So please, know that you can stop eating when you're bored. Prepare for your afternoon zoom meeting, weed the garden, or call your mum. Eating because you're bored is a habit. And like any habit, you can change it. If you'd like to dive deeper into the habits that prevent you from being your happy shape and size, why not join my free community. 21.01.2022 We’re taught a story that self-care is long bubble baths, cashmere cardigans, and bubbles. And those things are lovely. But I believe the deepest form of self-care is community. Like Rumi says, hang out with those who fan your flames.
21.01.2022 A former business mentor told me now is the time I should send out the aggressive email declaring all the reasons why... "You must join Lighten Up, and if you don't, your life will fall apart!!!" (Unsurprisingly, I parted ways with that business mentor because that felt like a gross way to operate.)... Besides, it's simply not true! I believe you're going to be OK, no matter what. But if you're ready to release childhood programming, destructive eating habits, and self-sabotaging patterns around food so you can be your happy shape and size...today is the last day to join. c'mon over to https://avrilcarpenter.com/lightenup Doors close tonight. If it's not the right fit for you I totally understand. But if you're not 100% sure, DM me . Let me know what's going on for you. And what question you have. (No question is too silly, I promise!) Love etc, Avril x
21.01.2022 Haha! But seriously... All of usincluding youare born listening to our tummies. It's in our DNA. Unfortunately...... a multi-billion dollar food industry is making foods more and more addictive, mainstream media is feeding us with images of unrealistic perfection, and past baggage disconnects us from our body's instinctual intelligence. It's heartbreaking... but this 'conditioning' is reversible with virtual gastric band hypnosis. "My hesitation was that I didn't really understand how it could work. Maybe it was just another thing that wouldn't work - the way diets don't work. I was very sceptical and embarrassed to be trying something a bit out there. But the change in me has been huge. I'm 11kgs down. Hypnosis has stopped the sugar and salt cravings, the eating of food for the sake of it. It's not like before when it was an effort not to eat that chocolate - I just don't want it. I wouldn't believe it if someone told me. It's basically just doing what we all know is right - eat healthy foods, watch the quantity, exercise more, drink water, but this gave me the ability to do what I always knew." This is your chance to reconnect with your body's instinctual intelligence with Lighten Up. Just like Ms Sceptical did! Lighten Up is a six-week weight loss programme (for women only) which harnesses the power of the virtual gastric band hypnosis. Enrolment closes this Sunday, so pop on over here to save your spot NOW http://avrilcarpenter.com/lightenup I officially invite you to JOIN US and reset your relationship to foodand your bodytoday. 21.01.2022 Who else needs this reminder? I know I do, haha!!!
20.01.2022 Many of us waste hours researching ‘foods to eat’ to lose weight. But it’s the WRONG question! Sounds crazy but this short video explores the RIGHT question if you want long term weight loss
20.01.2022 Yes - many weight loss experts do talk about using shame as a 'motivational tool'. But I disagree. This short video explains why.
19.01.2022 Love the side effects of the power of the mind. Thank you VGB ...
18.01.2022 Anyone else needs this reminder today? (You’re welcome!)
18.01.2022 Can food boost your immune system? Hello, lovelies, How are you going with the ‘corona-coaster?’ ... It’s quite something, isn’t it! The ongoing uncertainty about the length of the lockdowns is such a powerful invitation for us to sit quietly, breathe deeply, and feel all the feelings. There’s a lot going on, so go gently. I read something on my social feed recently that made my hackles go up. Mostly, I don’t take stuff on socials too seriously because #fakenews #overwhelm And just to be clear, this post wasn't from a random influencer. It was from an official Australian health source. It had all the logos. What did it say? "You cannot boost your immune system through diet." Wow. Think about that for a minute. What kind of disempowering, fear-inducing message is that? Having helped hundreds of women to become their happy shape and size, here's what I know to be true. If you live on takeaways and heavily processed food, you’ll have a vastly different immune system compared to if you nourished your body with nutrient-dense fruit and vegetables. Here's what it comes down to. Our beliefs are self-fulfilling prophecies. They’re like Catch-22s. If you believe, "I can't boost my immune system with the foods I eat" then that will directly influence what you put in your mouth. You're far more likely to make low-quality food choices. I strongly suggest you replace that disempowering belief with something more encouraging, supportive, and immune-boosting. Grandaddy of medicine Like what Hippocrates, the granddaddy of medicine, encouraged us to believe. "Food is thy medicine" Because it is. When we believe that, we're far more likely to make nourishing food choices which boost our immune system. So lovelyreclaim your power, believe that you can boost your immune system with nourishing foods. And guess what? YOU WILL! Love etc, Avril
17.01.2022 It's not just how you show up physically in life. How are you showing up energetically? Aim for drama-free (it feels so good!)
17.01.2022 Diet culture has taught us to shame ourselves as a form of motivation. We’re taught to compare ourselves to other women and judge ourselves as lacking. That's the stick approach and it's based on fear. Today, I encourage you to cheerlead yourself and the changes you're creating. The carrot approach has more ease, fun, and joy. It's based on love. Always choose the carrot over the stick. Love always wins.
16.01.2022 Who else needs this reminder today You're welcome x
16.01.2022 Recently a lady said "You talk a lot about self-love. I'm not interested in loving myself, but I would like to lose some weight. Can you help?" Here’s what I told her
15.01.2022 It's really rather wonderful what can be achieved when we're ready, willing, and open.
15.01.2022 Today I invite you to stop treating meals like a Formula One refuelling stop. Slow down, taste the food and nourish your body.
15.01.2022 Most of us have received the message that we’re more ‘worthy’ if our body conforms to a certain size. Slim equals more worthy, was the message I received as a little girl. What patriarchal dribble!!!... So I’m here to remind you your worth has NOTHING to do with your dress size. Zip. You’re worthy and utterly glorious exactly as you are. But, if you know your current dress size is limiting how you show up in your business, I can help. If you'd like to release the destructive eating patterns so you can happily update your About Me photos, you might like to know that I have 2 spaces available for my VIP package in October. Over 4 Zoom sessions, we’ll rewire your thoughts and feelings around food, which means there’s no need to rely on willpower to release the weight. And you can embody the confidence of being an expert in your field without distracting food thoughts. DM me to see if this is a good fit for you.
14.01.2022 Having freedom from the scales is a powerful step in weight loss.

11.01.2022 If you're curious about how your childhood can sow the seeds for destructive eating habits as an adult, you might enjoy this 20-minute interview. Last week I had the great pleasure of speaking with my dear friend Yolanda who is a very talented exercise physiologist - which means she helps people who're in chronic pain. We talk about how to end those Sunday night promises of "eating better this week", the science of hypnotherapy, as well as some tips for everyday well-being.... Have a listen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTtHLpRWaoI See more
11.01.2022 This is above my desk. I read it every day. It's sooooooo good.
11.01.2022 Our unconscious mind is VERY powerful, and it directly impacts whether we are our happy shape and size. Why is this important for weight loss If you want to lose weight but you've got blocks to being slim (blocks that you're unaware off because they're in your unconscious), it doesn't matter how many vision boards you create or positive affirmations you say in your conscious mind, you'll not shift the weight.... Because our unconscious will always win. Sobering stuff, right! Are you ready to find out what's in your 'blind spot', lovely See more
11.01.2022 There’s a lot of #fakenews on social media about what will and won’t boost your immune system. Here’s what I know to be true
11.01.2022 CLIENT WOOHOO Isn't that what life's about?!! Life's too short for diet or deprivation.
10.01.2022 Most of us grew up hearing "Think about all the starving children!" which means we're still cleaning our plate out of guilt. If this was you, here's a tangible, practical tip which means you can lose weight AND genuinely help the starving children too.
10.01.2022 Life changing VGB...
09.01.2022 Here's a cheeky but super helpful question. It’s brilliant for when you’re self-sabotaging. Like when your hand is hovering over the cookie jar ---- and you’re not remotely hungry.... Here's the thing... trauma is its timelessness. Think about something unfriendly that happened to you as a kid. Even though it happened decades ago, doesn’t it feel like every minuscule detail is seared into your memory? That’s how trauma works. By remembering every detail, it thinks it’s keeping you safe. Makes sense, right? But sometimes we forget that We’re adults now. So when you find your hand in the cookie jar (or any other self-sabotaging behaviour) ask yourself this question. How old am I right now? The answer might make you laugh. Are you the scared three-year-old thinking, I’m going to die because you lost mum at the shops? Are you the upset five-year-old who the other kids rejected on your first day at school? Are you the awkward teenager whose heart’s been broken by her first love? Please, don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the question. By asking ‘How old am I right now,’ it brings you back into the current moment. It reminds you you’re not that wee girl who wanted comfort from the cookie. It activates your inner adult. And your inner adult has access to wisdom, resources and choices you never had as a child. So lovely, how old are you, right now? I invite you to play with it. Take back your power from the trauma. Love etc, Avril x PS: If you're genuinely tummy rumble hungry, enjoy the cookie!!!
08.01.2022 Why 'shaming' yourself to weight loss doesn't work... Today I want to talk about the photograph. You know the one.... It's that photo of you at your heaviest. That photo of you at your lowest ebb. You at your most unflattering. Maybe you've plastered it to the fridge in the hope that it'll stop you in your tracks when you're tempted to go back for seconds? Sure, many weight loss coaches do talk about harnessing the power of the unflattering photo as a motivational tool. But I disagree. Here's why. It's very hard to create change from that feeling of shame. Let that sink in. Sure the threat of the photo might feel motivational for a couple of days - but for most women, shame is exhausting, and it doesn't work in the long term. For example, a client I saw this week mentioned how she'd used the photo of herself at her heaviest - after the birth of her fourth child - as a bookmark for the last eight years. Had that motivational bookmark worked? Nope! That unflattering photo was the last thing she saw before she fell asleep at night. Is it any wonder she woke up feeling despondent and unmotivated! Shaming behaviour makes us feel miserable. And what do we do when we feel miserable? We eat! So stop using those unflattering photographs as a way of trolling yourself. Becoming your happy shape and size is all about re-learning how to listen to your body. And we're much more likely to listen to someone we feel safe with. Allow your body to start feeling safe with you. I'm not suggesting you need bury or burn all your unflattering photos - because there is a time and a place for them - but only use photos in a gentle, loving way. If you'd like to dive deeper into the habits that prevent you from being your happy shape and size, why not join my free community - Peace With Food - so you can live the joyful life you truly crave? 07.01.2022 How often do you weigh yourself? Daily, weekly, never? There’s a lot of conflicting advice out there about the scales (much of it unhelpful for women). Here’s what I’ve found works best for us ladies.
04.01.2022 Focus on what you're adding (not what you're losing)
02.01.2022 Our unconscious mind is VERY powerful, and it directly impacts whether we are our happy shape and size. Why is this important for weight loss? If you've been trying to lose weight but you've got blocks to being slim (blocks that you're unaware off because they're in your unconscious), it doesn't matter how many diets you start or vision boards you create or positive affirmations you say in your conscious mind, you'll not shift the weight.... Because our unconscious will sabotage us. The good news is hypnosis can help you REACTIVATE that peaceful relationship with food that we're all born with. .so food isn't a battle anymore and you can release the excess weight, then you might like to know that Lighten Up, the doors are about to close on my 6 week online weight loss programme. c'mon over to https://avrilcarpenter.com/lightenup
