25.01.2022 The City of Port Phillip engaged AW Maritime to provide a detailed design for the renourishment of Middle Park Beach, with the goal of increasing the beach area to minimise coastal erosion. Dredging contractor, Maritime Constructions Pty Ltd recently commenced the works which involves the dredging of around 37,000m of sand from a borrow site located 750m offshore and pumping it back to the beach. The project, which is funded by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) will not only enhance the beach as a public amenity but also protect it from future weather events. https://www.awmaritime.com/middle-park-beach-renourishment/

23.01.2022 The Port Welshpool Long Jetty rehabilitation project recently reached a significant milestone with the installation of the final precast panel. Construction of the heritage winch shed is currently underway on the new deck, using the original timbers. 22.01.2022 Work on the Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour project has been continuing during the health crisis, with the harbour on track to open by October. The project features a wave attenuator, a 240m on-water walkway which is one of the largest of this kind in Australia. 22.01.2022 The berth at 26 South Wharf is used to import bulk products such as cement and gypsum which are critical to the Victorian construction market. 19.01.2022 PW Johnson recently successfully completed the construction of a new lower landing at Middle Brighton Pier, designed by AW Maritime for Parks Victoria. The design included a modular steel frame solution and careful consideration of wave loads as the structure is heavily inundated in storm events. 14.01.2022 The Watermans Cove precinct was recently opened to the public by the NSW government as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald. The waterfront promenade featuring a pier and amphitheatre-shaped boardwalk curving around a new cove, is part of the $6 billion Barangaroo project. AW Maritime worked in collaboration with SMC Marine to complete the detailed design of the Barangaroo waterfront marine works including piling, precast concrete elements and modular aluminium deck units. 08.01.2022 The South Channel Beacons guide shipping traffic in from the Rip along the Southern Channel near the Mornington Peninsula into the deep waters in the centre of Port Philip Bay. There are more than 20 beacon structures in the South Channel fixed to large steel piles and mounted with navigation aids for day and night time navigation. AW Maritime has been engaged to compile the key structural data for all beacons, assess the wind, wave and current loading on the structures, complete vulnerability analysis and assist the Port of Melbourne with its ongoing management of their key assets. https://www.awmaritime.com/projects/south-channel-beacons/

06.01.2022 Jan Juc, on the Victorian Surf Coast, recently set the scene for a dramatic construction feat involving the use of a helicopter to airlift a new staircase into place at a popular surf access point. Storm damage in 2017 necessitated the complete replacement of the beach access stairs, upper tier lookouts and boardwalk sections. AW Maritime was engaged by the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC) to provide an assessment on the structural integrity of the original structure, and also consulted on options for its eventual replacement. AW Maritime, under the lead Design & Construct Contractor KASI , completed the detailed design of the 180m long precast concrete wavescreen.
