25.01.2022 Fishing report 15-10-20 The last few weather gaps around the weekend saw some quality fish bought in by the offshore anglers. Several groups finding solid red emporer with fish up to 14kg and some excellent bags of trout. Closer reefs produced large grassy sweetlip and alot of bigger than average hussar in good numbers. Be aware the first of the annual coral reef fin fish closures started on the 14 of October and runs until midnight on 18th so reef fishing is off limits till Monday. Creeks still producing good grunter, a few nice jacks, flathead and a couple of queenfish in the mix too. Cheers. Josh

19.01.2022 Fishing report 26-11-20 The bays and beaches are alive with bait schools this week, hardy heads, herring and small anchovies are being balled up by a range of pelagic species and even pushed up onto the sand in some areas. Using small profile lures to closely match the size of bait is key when trying to catch the various species of tuna, trevally and Mackerel that are feeding on them. Schools of trevally have been reported pushing the bait up against the surface not far from ...the headlands, some very large goldens amongst them making for excellent light tackle sport fishing. All this feeding activity with the addition of turtle season in full swing had drawn some very large Sharks in close to the beaches so exercise caution in the water. Anglers trolling bought in some quality Spanish early this week, a nice little black marlin was boated too. These fish usually show up in numbers so keep an eye out and a lure out the back when moving between spots. Offshore reefs and wrecks are currently holding schools of cobia, these fish are best targeted with jigs and live baits. Mixed bags of reef fish came in, grass sweetlip, tuskfish and nannygai inshore, a few big reds out wider around the 10kg mark. Shallow reef edges producing some nice trout and RTE too. Plenty of quality jacks still being caught in the estuaries, the hot days fire them up. I've had a few reports of Barra being caught (and released) in between. Remember to handle these fish with care if captured and release them asap as the closed season is in full effect, this is there time to spawn. Elevated stress levels can disrupt there breeding cycle. Cheers. Josh. See more

05.01.2022 Fishing report 5-11-20 Local headlands have been producing Spanish Mackerel this week, few decent fish in the 8-15kg range landed. One boatie bought in a larger specimen just over 20kg that fell victim to a trolled gar. Couple of nice queenfish came through too, awsome fun when they jump and put on a show with the light tackle. School Mackerel are also still about in close and over the wrecks. Several reports also came in of schoolies making there way up into the creek on the... rising tide, being caught around the moored boats and the deep hole Infront of the caravan park. Beaches are still producing whiting in the shallow wash zones, schools of larger swallowtail dart patrolling the edges of beach gutters. Speaking of gutters there's seems to be a good looking gutter forming up around the surf club section of main beach again that would be worth a fish. Mangrove jack are really on the chew in this warm weather, few good ones up around 50cm reported this week. Big schools of pikey bream in the timber too. Couple of offshore reports, some good trout out around the outer reefs and still largemouth nannygai on the close stuff. Cheers josh. See more
05.01.2022 Fishing report 29-10-20 We had a few good days of offshore weather between the storms this past week, wide ground producing good numbers of red emporer and nannygai, tho the Sharks were thick and taxed more than their share. Shallow ground close to the main reefs producing catches of plate size trout, plenty of red throat emperor and large hussar schools on the drop offs. I did a quick run to some of the closer wrecks last Friday for a quick jigging session that produced lar...ge mouth nannygai, grunter, snapper, school Mackerel and XL golden trevally. Awsome fun on light tackle and micro jigs! Pelagics are still about, witnessed schools of hardy heads being terrorized by Mack tuna, Northern bluefin and school Mackerel throughout bustard bay. As I mentioned last week look for the diving birds and throw small metal lures or white plastics. Bait is small so downsize the lures. Mackerel have also been caught on the headlands, a report also came through of some visiting anglers scoring a big cobia in the 30kg range! Estuaries produced some quality fish this week, grunter have thinned out a little but still a few decent ones landed. Those stormy afternoons fired up the jacks for a few anglers that braved the weather, several in the mid to high 40cm range and a couple just over 50. A few guys fishing the flats picked up whiting on live tabbies. Not big numbers but sizable fish. Please remember the annual Barramundi closure starts midday sunday the 1st of November, they are a no take species until midday 1st of February. Cheers. Josh See more
03.01.2022 Fishing report 23-10-20 Beach anglers reported some nice dart this week in the 40-50cm range, focus on the wash zones where beaches meet headlands or rocky outcrops. There were also a few nice whiting in the mix here too. Heaps of Mack tuna out the front chasing bait schools with a few longtails amongst them too. Awsome fun on light tackle with slugs and small soft plastics, easy to find just follow the birds. Reports of a few nice Spanish Macks coming through again too. From... the estuary scene I've heard reports of nice grunter again this week, 50+cm and this stormy weather looks to be firing up the jacks once again. A few reported in the high 40's. Get out there Cheers josh. See more
01.01.2022 Fishing report 19-11-20 Estuaries have been firing again this week, quality jacks being caught in the upper reaches of systems on soft plastics and surface lures, as well as a few on live baits. Several large flathead were reported being captured early this week by some very happy ladies after a stop at the tackle Shop for a few pointers. A couple of local anglers also did well on the whiting using freshly pumped nippers for bait. Headlands had a few trevally buzzing around i...n close, both Gt's and golden trevally reported. Still plenty of bait around in the bay getting balled up by Mack tuna and other pelagics. Had a report of some nice Mackerel being caught on floating Pillies of one of the beach headlands too. Several nice Spanish Macks were caught outside on the troll, both hard body lures and rigged baits doing the trick. Offshore close reefs and wrecks produced a few cobia, gold spot cod, snapper and grass sweetlip, the wider reefs producing good mixed bags of red throat emperor tuskfish and hussar. Annual closures are now finished for the year so get back out there! Cheers josh.
