25.01.2022 RESEARCH INTO THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN Research project: Hypnosis for chronic pelvic pain pilot trial We are looking for 40 women to help us test whether hypnosis helps with chronic pelvic pain... Numbers are limited to the first 40 women who volunteer. It would normally be $1500 or more to access this with a psychologist! We are looking for 20 women to volunteer to test our online hypnosis therapy and 20 controls. Controls will get access to all the materials after 8 weeks. In order to participate you must - be over 18 - Have had pelvic pain for over three months Your pelvic pain could be due to a diagnosed cause or no cause at all. The study will go for 8 weeks and involve filling in progress questions and listening to a hypnosis recording each week. The materials are all provided online and participation is voluntary. This project has been approved by the University of South Australia Human Research Ethics Committee (Application ID 202935)

Dr Sarah Sibson graduated from Flinders University with degrees in Medical Science (2005) and Medicine (2009) and completed her General Practice Fellowship with the RACGP in 2015. She worked in obstetrics and gynaecology at Flinders and Women’s & Children’s hospitals before entering general practice and has always had a passion for women’s health. After enjoying the flexibility of locum GP work for the past few years, she is excited to put down roots as part of the team at Aware Women’s Health. Dr Sibson is a member of the GP Obstetric Shared Care program and cherishes the opportunity to care for women during their pregnancies. She will continue to be available for shared obstetric care through AWARE Women’s Health. Dr Sibson has a certificate in sexual & reproductive health and is a qualified provider for the insertion and removal of Implanon implants and intra-uterine devices (Mirena, Kyleena, copper IUDs). In addition to general practice Dr Sibson also works as a surgical assistant, mainly in obstetrics and gynaecology.

GREAT IDEA! HERE'S HOW IT WORKS... You will need internet access to download the app on to your smartphone, tablet or other device. We'll help you with that. You will then be sent a specific access code to use to start the consultation at your appointment time and away we go! Don't worry if you do not have access to the required gadgets, we can simply phone you instead. Costs are the same as for a regular consultation but may change as Medicare rebates become available.
