25.01.2022 Little bit of boxing, cardio and core in a Brooklyn sesh this morning with some guru’s after running the first 3 early classes!! First time I’ve punched but even better KICKED something (Carley girl soz), in a long time and it felt bloody good . . I find this type of training really gets the heart pumping as well! It burns more calories, gets me puffing, sweating and really working my cardiovascular...do you agree..?? .... . 18.01.2022 Home late from work, quick dinner... . . Sliced up some chicken breasts, covered it in Sundried tomato pesto...put it on the stove in a pan... Whilst that was happening I sliced up whatever I had in the fridge: capsicum, eggplant, mushrooms and chucked them in the pan with the chicken. ... Whilst that was all cooking, I chucked some boc choy, broccolini and asparagus in the microwave to STEAM! . . BAM. FUEL. FILLING. NUTRITIOUS. . . Don’t overcomplicate it . . 18.01.2022 Yo, these TRX pikes were pretty fun today..... haha! So good though! . . Put your feet into both handles of the TRX so that your feet are in line with your body and you’re still forming a perfect plank position, forearms are on the ground with shoulders over elbows! . Use your core strength to lift your bum straight up into the air keeping your legs straight also, then lower but only back down to plank position! Straight back and upper back lifted!... . 17.01.2022 Just a bit of MEAL PREP! I really like to have snacks prepped, if I don’t they are my biggest downfall otherwise! I am good with meals, but I could snacckkkkk alllll day long and on whatever I have! So this is the best and safest way to make sure I am stopping the bad grazing and welcoming the good snacking! . . Plus, if it’s actually satisfying and filling then the point of a snack does it’s Job! I’m also up at 4am for work, NOT for gym or training myself but to be awa...ke for a 5am start to motivate the peeps, so I need something fast that I can chew down on the way to work at that hour...all these snacks help, as well as boiled eggs, rice cakes etc etc. by doing this I am making sure I’m eating Whole Foods when I’m hungry rather than eating packaged foods, opting for something unhealthier because I haven’t prepared myself, orrrrr just not eating at all because I know it’s not healthy and I need food stat so I wait until I’m home (I don’t do this anymore because I’m prepared hahahaha) . . Choabani or YoPro is a staple! Sometimes I add a scoop of protein powder, sometimes seeds and berries it changes, I usually have a couple strawberries at work after Brekky or for snacks with something else, I’ve got overnight Chia Puddings for Brekky ready, Zucchini Muffins, Sundried Tomato Cups and YUMMY Protein Balls....I also could literally eat a whole punnet of cherry tomatoes in a sitting so that’s there in case I need a tie over! . . Thanks to @thebod_ for the recipe inspiration, those Zucchini muffins are my GO TO snack at the moment because of how filling they are on the spot! Really lovinggggg the food mixed with my meals and Gym Food Australia meals...it’s all balancing out beautifully . . 14.01.2022 HANDSTANDS..! . . Have you every tried doing handstand holds in between your sets..? Or just at all anyway..? . Handstands are a great way to build strength!! Not only are you doing a weight bearing exercise which helps to strengthen the wrist (and bones and joints especially as we get older) but you’re also utilizing basically every muscle in your arms, shoulders and upper body! Not only that but they also use a LOT of core therefore building your core strength as well be...cause they require you to stabilize your muscles and stop from falling over. . . Handstands can also help increase your balance, improve your blood circulation, increase bone health in the spine, wrists, arms and shoulders ANNNNDDDD they’ve also been said to help regulate hormones like cortisol (stress)....Less depression? Less anxiety.??? . . But anywho try a handstand! 11.01.2022 OK SOOOO, this happened this is progress over ONE DAY!!! (@katiekio ) The first 2 videos was during my work break at around 8.30am and the last video with the green top on was at the gym that night around 5.30pm... . . So I can do 2 body weight CHIN UPS and the last video I did 3 solid ones...I got heaps excited that I did 3 and just stopped sooooo I guess I can try again haha ..you might be thinking, 2, 3? Not even hard, BUT IT IS FOR ME! Lol... . Funny thing is I don’t actually practice these bad boys! I’ve never been able to do body weight chin ups or pull ups...and if I do them during a workout I’ll use therabands to assist me. It’s something I have always wanted to be able to achieve but never have. I practiced them a few months ago to see what my body weight limit was (you should see that video ) and I couldn’t do it without swinging my legs (cheating lol not a strict pull up).... . haha so VERY surprised to see this progress and SUPER PUMPED that I can almost do 3 unassisted body weight chin ups allll on my own! . . It goes to show that the work I do day in and out, either at work (in the gym) or when I get a chance to train myself...is improving my strength every day without me even realizing it plus staying consistent and trying to challenge myself every session I get a chance to do (which sometimes isn’t everyday) is important. It’s easy to get stuck in a plateau so it’s always important to TEST yourself (I also did a 1RM test yesterday too), and keep yourselves ACCOUNTABLE! . . Ps. I still have back and neck injuries (amongst the rest), but I am trying, trying and trying and getting up every time I get knocked down and that’s WHYYY I am sllloowwwwllllyyy starting to see some progress, the most I have in 3 years! Wowzer it’s been a long journey! . . In this burrito bowl I added beef mince with beans, home made guacamole (avocado, red onion, lemon), lettuce, corn, tomato, capsicum, cheese (because I love it and don’t eat it often so yum), brown rice (for the hungry boys I feed, I opted for the no rice option) and a bit of salsa! .... . 10.01.2022 Reaalllllly felt like a good medicinal soup today....just all the good stuff....healing properties, anti-oxidants, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory....alllll the good stuff with the micronutrients from using plenty of vegetables and greens . . Spinach, snow peas, radish, spring onion, shiitake mushrooms, lime juice, boiled eggs, low sodium vegetable stock and ginger - lots of it! Such a yummy broth and feels good after that 3 day binge to get back into it .... . Don’t stress about the food and alcohol you may have consumed over the last few days guys. It’s all about enjoying yourselves and now getting back on the wagon with training sessions and implementing your ‘healthy’ eating once again! 07.01.2022 What a weekend! Started my day with a REALLY beautiful flow at @cosmicyogastudio thanks to Stewart, which left me feeling amazing . Felt so great to be on the mat again and surrounded by so many special people . .... It energized me to take on the rest of my day...a kayak in he lake! . . I used every moment of this weekend so do something for myself and I’m so glad that I did and that I could! Yes I still worked but just having the good weather and the sunshine I find, really opens up the opportunities for us to go out and get (what I like) done! 07.01.2022 ME TIME! Don’t come near me if you see me at the gym.... jokes but fo realz might get a top made that says ‘don’t talk to me’ and wear it there...noooo JOKES haha!! . . I’ve JUST starting (in 3 years due to injury) lifting heavier again for my squats and deadlifts, literally one week ago things happen, shit happens, it is what it is though, and it doesn’t matter HOW LONG IT TAKES...it just matters how you respond to it and how you work through it. I am doing my best and... this is the best I’ve felt in a long time (I mean alll my injuries are hurting ) but im trying to work through it, in terms of training and feeling a tiny bit of strength come back, that tiny bit gives me excitement . .
