18.01.2022 Dear Friends, This coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. It is a day when we start the beginning of lent. There has been a directive from Rome saying that it is permissible to sprinkle some ashes on top of the head, without touching the persons head, to fulfil the requirement of the distribution of ashes. That means, we do not put the cross on the forehead but rather sprinkle on top of the head. ... As usual, the priest or lay minister needs to disinfect their hands before they distribute the ashes. It is also a day when those who are 14 years and over, if possible, abstain from meat. Those who are 21-60 years are required to try to fast, that means eating less. I wish you a happy Lent.
