20.01.2022 AWCC Kindergarten Families - We thought we would give you plenty of notice regarding the introduction of our Morning tea lunch box. At the beginning of Term 4 (6th October) the children can bring a small container or lunch box to the centre with a small morning tea in it. They will eat this instead of the morning tea that is supplied at the Centre. By doing this they will learn some very important skills needed for when they go off to Prep next year. These include unwrappin...g paper, peeling banana or oranges, taking the top of yoghurts. If your child is not going to School next year we still ask that you bring in a lunchbox as this is something that the children really enjoy and look forward to. We ask that you provide 1 piece of fruit or vegetable and 1 other healthy snack. Please provide the healthy (no nut) snack in a small container, popped straight into the lunch box or wrapped in reusable wax paper. We strongly discourage the use of plastic wrap and plastic bags See more
20.01.2022 We this quote as it reminds us of the importance of modelling behaviours and the importance of our roles as educators.
18.01.2022 Building with blocks provides one of the most valuable learning experiences available for young children. Block play stimulates learning in all domains of development, intellectual, physical, and social-emotional and language. The current research shows that block play is fundamental for later cognitive success for learning math and numbers.

15.01.2022 Spike is out of hibernation and is back visiting our homes. For those who don’t know who Spike is, he is our Superhero Echidna! Spike joined our Centre early last year and is on a quest to save our environment with the help from the kindergarten children. He likes doing wonderful things for our planet, like picking up rubbish from our beaches, recycling rubbish or planting trees. Our aim is to have each child take Spike home for a few days and find some small way to help look... after our environment. In Spike’s bag is a cape and mask along with a book filled with everything he has done so far. If we can ask that you take the time to fill in the book by adding photos and little messages about what he has done this would be great as your child will have the opportunity to speak at Group time to their friends about their time with Spike. #greenheros See more

06.01.2022 We're loving this National Child Protection Week activity sheet based on artwork from Luke Duffy of Murri Art. The artwork depicts this year's theme: Putting C...hildren First. Elders, family, services and community supporting kids each step of the way. Showing leadership and guidance so that the path is never broken and remains strong and healthy. On the back of the sheet, you'll find creative ideas for engaging children in the activity, to create the 'meaningful moments' that help to build young brains. Find out more about the app at Bright Tomorrows Start Today. Download the activity sheet by scrolling to the Children's Activities on the Get Involved page. https://www.napcan.org.au/ncpw-get-involved/

03.01.2022 More incredible advice from @parenting_pathfinders on Instagram. It's so easy to say or call out "be careful!" to our children but in reality, with all the warnings it could possibly be referring to in so many contexts, the phrase doesn't actually provide a whole lot of information or teach anything...
02.01.2022 Part of children’s behaviour is learned from influential people around them. Children observe parents, educators, peers and even characters on television. Behaviours are observed and often imitated at a later time. When behaviour is reinforced it is more likely to reoccur, this is the process of social learning.
