24.01.2022 A Gentle Pose to Quiet Your Mind: Child’s Pose More than a rest stop, Child's Pose requires you to surrender to gravity and a state of non-doing. In Balasana (Child's Pose), the shape of this pose forces the front of the rib cage to compress which increases the internal abdominal pressure or, frontal breathing, which is the adopted pattern for most of us. ... In this resistance you will confrontpossibly for the first timethe notion of breathing somewhere other than the front of your lungs, we are avoid distending your belly as you inhale. As the frontal ribs are compressed, the space our internal organs consume can be restrictive and the compression of the abdomen against the thighs limits the diaphragm. This encourages breath to flow to the back body with soft even flow. During Balasana, we encourage slowing the inhalation and exhalation of the breath -- lengthen it! Some say this is a narrowing of the breath and it moves toward the spine, toward the sushumna nadi. The word nadi comes from the Sanskrit root nad, meaning movement. Take a moment. Pause. Breathe. Even rest has a purpose.

24.01.2022 2020 is nearly over - but that does not mean we need to wait till 2021 to start our fitness journey! Starting a new health and fitness journey means it can be hard to find and maintain the motivation to start working out. Even I find that my fitness motivation often comes in waves; there will be days when you can’t wait to start your workout, and other days when you simply don’t want to move. In these moments of " I don't want to move" I say - just be present on your mat and... it will do the mind a world of good! It can be easy to get discouraged about exercising if you genuinely don’t enjoy it. When you’re busy, or you feel tired, you might feel more like sitting on the couch than gearing up for either a studio class or ZOOM session. 8 ways to find your fitness motivation: * Write down the barriers to starting - no matter how small * Plan ahead with your schedule to commit to classes * Choose a training style you enjoy! * If you are pressed for time; keep your workout short (or choose one of our express classes) something is better than nothing * Create a routine - even if it just one small change! * Find a friend and workout together! * Wear what you love - use a mat you love. It your wardrobe or fitness equipment is fun you will enjoy your workout way more! * Connect with your fitness community. It is time for a rest, a reset and a recharge. 22.01.2022 The reward at the end of any workout is the cool down and the release of all our muscles. Watching our stretching form is just as important as the form during our exercise. Although tightness can occur during the front of your hip, remember that the psoas minor and major muscles originate from the base of your thoracic and lumbar spine. We never want to collapse through the lower b...ack when trying to achieve a hip flexor stretch! This will just load accessory muscles and may injure others rather than lengthen. We encourage you to keep your abdominals engaged and lengthen through the lower spice for a delicious and effective stretch! See you on the mat soon! See more

22.01.2022 Kale and Parmesan Pull Apart Bread Bread gets a bad wrap - and all too often we are told we should not eat it (ever) and I think that in moderation it is perfect! Some types of bread are certainly more nourishing than others; choosing a denser style bread, or one with plenty of grains, is a good way to ensure the bread you choose is nourishing. ... A good rule of thumb is the heavier the bread, the more nutrition and dietary fibre. If you’re buying bread from the supermarket, aim for fewer ingredients (or ingredients that you recognize as food) and you can look for no preservatives. For this recipe you need: BREAD: 1 tsp instant dried yeast, 1 tbs honey, 3 cups plain bread and pizza flour, 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil, 2 1/2 tbs Greek-style yoghurt, 2 tsp sea salt flakes, 2 tbs pepitas Kale Pesto: 1 bunch kale, leaves stripped and chopped, stalks sliced, 1/2 cup pepitas, 2 tsp sea salt flakes, 3 garlic cloves, 50g parmesan, roughly chopped, 1 lemon, juiced ,/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, 2 tbs wholegrain mustard PM me if you would like the HOW TO / INSTRUCTIONS. 20.01.2022 SAVASANA love in all it's variations! Ending our yoga classes in savasana is the part of class that all our members look forward too! Although it looks easy, Savasana (Corpse Pose) has been called the most difficult of the asanas. Many of us enjoy (and can push through) the challenges of balance, bending, and twisting through class but truly struggle with just lying on the floor. The reason is that the art of relaxation is harder than it looks.... This posture is more than just the end of class- it calms the mind and body as well as the central nervous system, aiding the digestive and immune systems. It assists with reducing stress, headache, fatigue and anxiety. Savasana does not always need to be laying flat on our back; we can explore lots of variations in our classes. Everyone is different, our bodies are different and we relax differently!

Our prone back extension work targets and strengthens the back muscles, improves posture and enhances your core strength and improves the stability of the spine. We can open the shoulders and mid-spine to correct the posture that can be created from sitting during the day or being hunched over while working. Adding in a little band work for some added resistance!

This means we are training them correctly rather than relying on surrounding muscles to pick up the slack. 09.01.2022 WARM ORIENTAL - STYLE SALAD - means salad dinners do not need to be boring (or always cold). Pair this with a while fish or Salmon and you have a meal rich in color, omega-3’s and vitamins! . . Veggies you need: 1 baby broccoli, 1 baby carrots halved, 1 pak choi chopped, 1 red onion chopper, 3 birds-eye chilli (to taste), 1 red pepper sliced , 1 yellow pepper sliced, 1 can baby sweet corn... The Extras you need: a drizzle sunflower oil, 1-inch fresh ginger, 2 whole star anise, 2 tbs orange juice, 3 tbs soy sauce, 1 tbs cashews Instructions: Cut broccoli into tiny florets; then bring a saucepan of water to boil and add the halved carotts. Cook for 3 minutes then add the broccoli and cook for another 2 minutes. Cool bath and put aside. Arrange 1oz of pal choi on a platter. Shred the rest and save. Heat a wok; add the oil, onion, chillies, ginger and star anise a stir fry for 1 min. Add the pepper strips and sweet baby corn and stir fry for a further 2 minutes. Pour in the orange juice and soy sauce and continue to stir fry for a further 1 min before adding the shredded pak choi, broccoli and carotts. Stir fry for an additional 2 min then arrange the warm salad over the pak choi lined serving platter. Enjoy!

This is known as the Movement Instructor Counting Disorder: and we all try to be better and not do it. Here is our Barre Class with the correct counting! My belief - a few extra reps will only make up stronger, healthier and a little sweatier! We love our barre community as a whole, let’s ta...ke the whole and make two halves. There are barre instructors and barre students. Put together they equal a whole amazing community of barre lovers! To make this community even stronger we feel it is so important to promote inclusivity. No matter our members background or experience, our barre classes are a place where they can be a barre star! We always encourage students, make everyone feel safe, welcome and make sure they receive an effective workout (which means make it sweaty and fun).
