12.01.2022 A message from the President. Hi Everyone Firstly after two rounds can I say an overall big thank you to everyone for the support and cooperation that has so f...ar taken place. Particular thanks to Cripps Waratah and Palena Netball Clubs who have already been Competition Managers and been so competent. Thank you also to AYC who are doing a great job at Bayswater Road. I think what we all have to realise, and keep stressing to members and supporters, is that whilst things seem so uncomplicated here in Tasmania we are still operating under Stage 3 Netball restrictions and therefore must comply - whether we agree or disagree with it. Unfortunately a few people want to compare netball with other sports and other situations and complain that netball is too restrictive. What you need to be able to say to these 'complainers' is that each state sporting body negotiated with the Department of Health about getting their sport up and running and therefore as an affiliated association we do have to comply. The Board met tonight and a couple of things were brought up and I would appreciate you passing this on to your members: **Due to social distancing rules (which apply everywhere) C5 and C6 do not have enough space on the sidelines for this. We had tried players at the end of the court but it is not deemed safe for umpires as there is restricted space at the best of times. The Board agreed tonight that there will need to be a limit of 25 people per team rather than 35 and hopefully it may only, in the remaining seven games, effect a team once or twice. We really need your support on this. **The other issue is the exit and entry of teams, supporters, etc to the courts. We have 25 minutes between games so if teams leaving the courts do so quickly we could potentially have teams coming in 15 minutes before the game, however we cannot allow people in until the venue is cleared. If you could reiterate this to all your teams it would be appreciated. **From this Saturday the entry points for the first game will be locked until 15 minutes prior to games commencing. This is so all teams are treated equally but recognising that the teams coming in first have to collect the scoreboard, etc. **A reminder also that wiping post covers also has to happen at training. Again a very sincere thank you as compliance with rules means netball can continue, non-compliance which could result in a fine will mean netball stops and that is certainly something that no-one wants. Making sure we all do the right thing means we can continue to see the smiles on the faces, particularly of our youngest, as they play the game we all love. Warm regards Glynis
