17.01.2022 Subhanallah, who could imagine that this bare-footed, shy, introverted young boy will grow up to save the world as a team with his future wife finding the covid... vaccine? Let us find out his amazing story! Dr. Uur ahin was born in Iskenderun, a small town in the South of Turkey near the Syrian border, where he spent the first 4 years of his life. As Turkey started to go through a period of hyper-inflation and multiple military coups, which made life very difficult, his family was looking for a better life. They decided to move to West Germany in 1969 as his father found work at the Ford factory in the city of Cologne. The salary wasn't high, but the parents prioritized educating and developing their children above all! This is where the young Ugur later graduated with a medical degree, after working in a lab at only the age of 20. Masha'Allah, it took this bright mind only 3 years to finish his Masters and Phd at the relatively young age of 27! His middle sister in the photo (with a hole in socks) owns a clothing brand, and his little sister on the left became a dentist! Remarkably, when he got married to his immunologist wife Dr Özlem Türeci (daughter of an immigrant from Istanbul), they drove back to their lab immediately after the wedding concluded! (Now that's true love........ for knowledge! :) ) With such dedication, they developed more than 70+ patents dealing with cancer diagnosis, treatment, and virology, until their company BioNTech became worth 20 billion! His wife also found a non-profit organization for cancer immunotherapy. So when the German government wanted to find a vaccine for Covid, who would they approach? Yes, a Muslim Turkish immigrant couple!! "Whover saves a single soul, it is like they have saved all of mankind" (Quran 5:32) I gift this story today to all the immigrants who feel they are discriminated against and have difficulty in making a living in their new country. The ones who feel they are challenged every day because of their faith or skin colour or poverty. And all the Muslims around the world who may come from small towns and economically challenged areas! Allah will send you several opportunities in your life. You just have to observe and look, but most importantly, develop yourself so that you are fully qualified when the opportunities come to your way. And to all the parents out there, inspire your children, because you never know if your son or daughter is the next Dr. Uur or Dr Ozlem. May Allah bless our generation and the next to carry the Ummah high!

14.01.2022 Tests. Trials. Difficulties. Hardships. Worries. Anxieties. Just some of the things we are sure to face in life. We all differ in the types of problems we encou...nter, but one thing is for certain; Allah will never test us with more than we can bear. This is a key concept in the life of every Muslim - we recognise that our trials are according to our ability to bear them. There may be times where we reach the limit of what we can handle, but the trial will never EXCEED our ability to bear it. This is a promise from Allah. The example of the egg is a good one. In many ways, it is extremely fragile. Yet from the right direction, the egg can carry a relatively heavy load without breaking. This applies to us too. With all of our weaknesses and shortcomings, when Allah tests us, He knows exactly how much we can take and often, we surprise ourselves by what we were able to handle! So whatever issue you are facing, take comfort in the fact that it won't go beyond what you can handle, and that difficulty comes with ease. Take every problem a day at a time, bit by bit. Eventually, by the Grace of Allah, things will improve.

10.01.2022 Just finished briefing the media on this, but I wanted to share a bit more background and detail so everyone knows what's happening. As you know, last night Sou...th Australia began a six-day lockdown. At the same time, wastewater tests in Benalla and Portland have picked up fragments of the virus. This is concerning as neither of those regions have had a recent confirmed case. We want to protect Victoria's hard-won gains and support SA's limits on movement as they get through this. So here's what we're going to do: From 11.59pm tonight a 'hard border' will be in place for 48 hours. Only freight drivers and those with medical or emergency reasons will be able to pass between our two states during that period. This will give us time to set up a broader permit system linked to South Australia's restrictions. The reasons to cross the border are expected to include emergency services, essential or agricultural work, for medical care or compassionate reasons, or to shop for essential supplies. Permits will be required from 11:59pm on Saturday. Victoria Police will set up road check points similar to when we had travel restrictions in place in Victoria. From today, interstate truck drivers travelling through Victoria from South Australia will be offered extra testing at a site at Nhill on the Western Highway. Testing sites are also being set up at major freight routes. Regional Development Victoria are meeting with local councils today to make sure our border communities have everything they need food, fuel, medical supplies and services. And if you live in Portland or Benalla or visited recently and you have any symptoms at all, please get tested today. You'll need to isolate until you get your results. Don't wait a day. Do it as soon as you can. Hours will be extended at local testing sites, and we'll be boosting capacity to make sure as many people as possible can get in. Nothing about this is easy, and this decision has not been taken lightly. But we can't allow everything we've worked so hard for to be put at risk.
