15.01.2022 Freelander 2 towed in cranking but not starting. After carrying out some basic diag we discovered that the timing belt had failed resulting in contact between the valves and pistons. Luckily for this customer the rocker arms broke first under the impact and the engine was able to be saved. All timing belts have a service interval and should be changed to avoid breakages or in some cases complete engine failure .
