24.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY It was the early 2000’s and Sensei Matt our chief Instructor stepped into the ring to lead our team and remind everyone how versatile Kenpo... Freestyle is. Sensei Matt has won many championships both in the US before this video & after (He will likely require a few throwback thursday's but that tends to happen when you have a Martial arts background and career as long as his). This particular championship match for 1st place goes into overtime and Sensei Matt ends up losing by one point but I must say to my count I beleive he should have been up by 3 points and won, look out for the counter reverse punches ;) ... But that’s the way the game is played. A good sport until the end and the reason why we all follow in his footsteps. Always be humble, says Sensei Matt and that lesson stays with us. Also you will see a sneaky head level heel hook in there too! Not bad Sensei Matt who would like to see Sensei Matt represent the club once more? 08.01.2022 Was So Impressed with the gradings at Freshwater last week. Check out some of these photo's! Sensei Ben has really improved their co-ordination, self confidence and dicipline. Some of those kids first having trouble joining in or focussing, now super attentive, performing techniques from both sides of the body and having fun. Well done Ben & team, Sensei's Christian, Rachel, Rose & Will. Thank you all the families supporting us and joining in on the classes, have a great break guys and we'll see you back on the 22nd of October

Successful grading prep list: 1) Practise form or kata at least once a week outside class 2) Go through techniques required for next belt or patch with Teacher or Sensei to make sure you know what is needed... 3) Practice in front of your parents or a freind - to put yourself under a little bit of pressure for the day 4) Have some fun on the day and try your best!
