22.01.2022 "Let’s chat skincare oils! Face oils are all the rage at the moment! It is so important to keep our faces hydrated, especially in winter. When looking at purchasing face oils, there are a few things to look out for that could actually cause more harm then good: -Avoid oils that have artificial fragrances ... -Avoid oils that have too much essential oil in them. All good body oils should be mainly a carrier oil such as jojoba oil or coconut oil and be diluted with essential oils. Never put pure essential oil on your skin especially citrus and mint oils as they can cause more harm than good. -Look at the ingredients label and ensure the oil actually has what it says it has, as well as no added words you can’t recognise. When in doubt, if you are unsure about the ingredients, I recommended researching them. What is your favourite face oil? Let us know below!

20.01.2022 Haircare for Mums! Are we all doing it? Probably not! It's just another thing to put into our routine, but it's really important to look after our hair and make sure that the hair we leave the salon with stays that way till we get back there. I know I'm not perfect putting all that on my hair and it's definitely something I have to concentrate on even after being a hairdresser for 30 years! So with that being said, I’ve made a list of some hair caring ideas to hold myself... accountable and hopefully this helps you. Here they are: 1. Use a mask as conditioner 2. Do a foam, conditioning toner once a month between salon visits 3. Use a coloured conditioner instead of a coloured shampoo - it's more conditioning for the hair 4. Use oil after blowdrying instead of before - what happens when you mix oil and heat ... it sizzles, so does your hair 5. Use a heat protector - if you don't believe me, put a blowdryer on your hand at full heat, ouch! take it away and spray some heat protector on another spot on your hand, now do the same thing with your blowdryer. Notice that the blowdryer didn't burn your hand this time. Thats what a heat protector does to your hair. I’d love to know from you mums, are you consistent at hair care? I don't think we need a special day to celebrate, but I do think that sometimes we need to stop and look around at the simple things that we are grateful for. Today, I am grateful for this beautiful Jade plant that is on my back deck. I just love it and am grateful that I am able to watch my son water it every day and tell me how beautiful he thinks it is.

12.01.2022 Finding your tribe or the right hairdresser! Let’s chat finding your ideal hairdressing tribe because we aren’t meant to do life alone or our hair for that matter. Finding your people is so important, so here are a few ways to start: 1. Referrals - the best way is word of mouth, if your friend thinks that their hairdresser is the best then give them a try and use the following things to make sure they are great for you. ... 2. Try before you commit - have a blowdry to test out the salon, do they give a good shampoo, do they talk too much, do they give you the right amount of time and attention. A blowdry doesn't mean you have to commit to a cut or colour that lasts longer than if you get a bad blowdry! 3. Read reviews - people tell the truth, especially when they are behind a keyboard, so online reviews are amazing for seeing both good and bad of a salon. If they are all 5 stars then you have probably hit a winner. 4. Explore their social media - are they posting things you would be interested in? That align with who you are as a person? Are they showing you their work and are those photos the type of hair you want to walk out of the salon with? 5. Look for a connection - You will know as soon as you sit in the chair if you like that hairdresser or not. It's a bit like dating, when you know you know. But when you find the right one, make sure to stay with them, because the longer they know you the better they get. Do you have a tribe? How did you meet your best friend or hairdresser?

11.01.2022 Liza had very dark red before we started her hair, wanting to go back to closer to her natural colour we put in a full head of foils and a beautiful apricot filter colour over the whole head, next time we will be able to lighten up the tint that we put on the regrowth and that will make growing out any grey much easier
