Must also acknowledge the support of my wife , Carolyn, certainly not possible without her ! MB , Highly recommend, you do NOT have to be a cyclist, most I met were not ! ... It’s a pristine part of the world , town’s & locations I never knew existed, has inspired me to see more of our own backyard- thx COVID ! A run drills session - there is no run as such - just drills, mobility and stretching to make you a more skilled wise runner ! Wilson Park , South Freo, 5.45-7am every Friday - except the xmas break - yes into, it'll run in 2017 too !... $15 casual or use your b F!T session pass ! see ya there if you wide awake at 5am with nothing to do ! 23.01.2022 Hey All ! Herewith my occasional posting, So you can keep me accountable for a change. Currently, I’m DETOXING by riding the Munda Biddi , (N2S) in the pristine Great Southern read on if you really interested .... Many ask me why ? ... I have several responses , a goal , life is short , bucket list , blah blah blah , but after a brutal but rewarding Day 1 - My short answer is how could you NOT the scenery fauna & flora compares to few on this planet - GET OUT THERE ! I’m curious, What’s your current major goal ATM - what’s keeping you focused & moving forward to , a better you, for YOU & your family? As a fitness professional I’ve always found that a physical goal helps me with my other life goals & challenges , it conditions me, for when the going gets tough ! Hopefully, this small contribution may just inspire you to step up your physical activity & enjoy nature too ! How it came about ? 5 months ago, I decided that i would start my 5th decade with a bang , coz you get stronger as you get older, right , well this is what my 50yr + clients tell me. So, armed with 25 years of triathlon, Adventure & Mt Biking racing & 3500 hrs of indoor cycling instructing , it was time to find out! Enter the CHALLENGE - The famous Munda Biddi (Aboriginal for path in through the forrest ) - the longest off road cycle in Australia (1080km) I’m attempting it unsupported & camping at the 13 huts, If all goes well, I’ll be in the wilderness for next 10-12 days soooooo, if you willing and can handle a bike , off road - join me ! Oh BTW, the most recent record is 2.5 days , it’s unbelievable ! Yesterday : Day 1 - 100.25km (6.5hrs ) Albany to the first hut & I now can feel & can see this is really going to be outside my comfort zone, with a bit of suffering (& luck) I just may come away from this a bit stronger Yesterday , I learnt a few rooky lessons : close all your panniers & make sure you wear your gaiters BEFORE you run into your first lazy Tiger of the day , sunning itself & too lazy to move & eat more to Today : I’m holed up waiting for the blustery storm to pass , hopefully I’ll get some kms in today ! I’ve got lots to share but I’ll keep it short ! I give you permission, to poke anyone in the eye who’s says WA is flat , poke them in the eye & in the other eye if they say it never rains !!! - just drop em in the Great Southern. , only I could of chosen the wettest November on record ... I never expected to climb over 4000m per day for 4 conservative days , let alone ride in that icy rain for 2 days ! 12.01.2022 A HUGE shout out for Dr V ! The GUT Doc Yeah its taken me 2 weeks to recover from hanging onto the back of your wheel for 11hrs or 180km of brutal Mountain biking terrain ! But the most beautiful in the South West of Australia! Our awesome result of top 20% of 1300 riders Thanks for many hours of company over our winter preparation training , in the rain, dark & cold !!... Cape to Cape Mtb - Heaps of fun ! I recommend it to anyone who rides a bike , it will change you forever Until next time Doc , Ill be lying low & licking my wounds
