Coleslaw first came to the new world as the Dutch koolsla (cabbage salad), but has seen innumerous interpretations globally, with additional ingredients like carrot, apple, dried fruits and sour cream. The only consistent ingredient seems to be the cabbage! We have created an Asian inspired version, sans mayo, which has all the crunch and zest of a traditional slaw, but sings to its Asian influences with a fresh, acidic dressing and fried onion and nuts. ...That was so perfectly balanced, I devoured the entire thing!
