02.01.2022 Transport noise corridors: Updated mapping for State-controlled roads On 16 November 2016, mapping used to support the Queensland Development Code Mandatory Part 4.4Buildings in a transport noise corridor (QDC 4.4) has been updated.... The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has updated the mapping for State-controlled roads. The mapping now takes into account additional local factors that can influence the extent of transport noise from State-controlled roads, such as the existence of noise barriers and topography. It also incorporates the most up-to-date traffic information such as vehicle volumes, speed environment, pavement type and heavy vehicles. This means the designated transport noise corridors for State-controlled roads will more accurately represent the transport noise impacts on land adjacent to these corridors. In many cases the updated mapping is now accurate enough for most property owners to avoid the need to undertake an on-site noise assessment. There have been several significant changes to properties affected as a result of the updated mapping, including: approximately 50 per cent (over 120,000) of properties currently within a State-controlled road transport noise corridor have now moved into a lower noise category. This will reduce the cost of building compliance for the owners and developers of these properties almost 85,000 properties are no longer within a State-controlled road transport noise corridor or have been lowered to category 0 or 1. This means these properties will no longer be required to include noise attenuation measures for the building approximately 20,000 existing properties have now moved into a higher noise category. This update follows the draft mapping that was released earlier this year for feedback from local governments and building industry stakeholders. Property search tool The updated mapping for State-controlled roads as transport noise corridors has been incorporated into the free online property search tool within the State Planning Policy Interactive Mapping System (hosted by the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning). The property search tool and supporting guides are available on the Department of Housing and Public Works website. If you have any questions regarding the transport noise corridor mapping, please email [email protected].

01.01.2022 New CPR signs - From 1 January 2017, all new CPR signs for swimming pools must comply with Guideline 8, published by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). Existing signage that complies with the earlier guideline (Guideline 7) is acceptable for use while still readable. However, when CPR signs become illegible, they must be replaced with a sign that is compliant with Guideline 8.... Owners can choose to use the new CPR signs now, as pool safety laws have already been updated to reflect the change to signage. Guideline 7 signs are being phased out from 1 January 2017. Other basic requirements for a CPR sign havent changed. For more information visit QBCC website or call the QBCC (24/7) on 139 333.
